Role The Senior Production Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of daily production operations through personal interaction with plant employees and supervisors. This role ensures the production process runs smoothly and that floor responses to immediate problems are managed efficiently and effectively. The role delegates authority to key supervisors in production and collaborates closely with all functions involved to optimize processes, improve productivity and maintain the highest standards for the processing plant. Priority Develop a cohesive, competent team, managing and overseeing plant activities to maximize stewardship, humane handling, safety, continuous improvement, quality, food safety and productivity of our plant. Promote a healthy work culture, ensuring plant and employee safety and health as a priority. Responsibilities Interact regularly with Production, Maintenance, Finance, Sanitation and Quality Control/Assurance, OH&S and HR Managers, utilizing daily manufacturing reports that capture manufacturing performance. Review and monitor reports on production key performance indicators, identify trends and make recommendations to enhance productivity. Direct the production planning and scheduling process by evaluating projected sales volumes, inventory requirements and raw product availability, ensuring adequate supplies are on hand to achieve production targets. Provide regular coaching, guidance and direction to production teams, meeting at least weekly/biweekly for oneonone individual and departmental performance reviews. Monitor inventory levels for both raw and packaged materials. Control departmental operating costs. Participate in the review and recommendation for capital improvements for equipment and plant facilities. Analyze and identify the cause of product deficiencies and implement measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and product quality. Guide and assist subordinates in solving production problems, ensuring high standards are adhered to for general maintenance, safety and preventative maintenance. Ensure a safe work environment is always maintained. Foster a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging innovation, implementing best practices and providing training and development opportunities to team members. Stay current on policies and procedures with a focus on continuous improvement and ensure HACCP, CFIA, GMP, BRC and all audit requirements are achieved and routinely adhered to. Foster and maintain a positive labour relations environment by ensuring that all employees are treated with respect, grievances or concerns are dealt with in a timely manner and employees are communicated with in an open manner. Requirements Postsecondary diploma and/or degree (e.g., management studies, business). Excellent interpersonal skills. Lean manufacturing skills. Computer skills, including Word & Excel. Demonstrated high leadership qualities in leading a team, with the ability to motivate employees to keep operations running smoothly. Knowledge of health and safety regulations within a production environment, safety systems and processes. Ability to identify opportunities and follow through on execution and improvement. Excellent analytical and organizational skills. Problemsolving ability: quickly ascertain a situation and be decisive in solving it, such as identifying defects on a production line. Timemanagement: ability to face production deadlines, shipping dates and more, managing time accordingly.
