Job Description Microchip Technology Inc. has a Principal Applications Engineer opening based in Burnaby, British Columbia, to join the Communications Business Unit and lead the technical worldwide support team for our high-performance 64bit RISCV MPUs. The candidate will also generate, manage, and maintain a suite of support collateral for Microchips latest SoC/MPU device. Responsibilities Work closely with Tier1 OEMs in the Aerospace & Defense, Automotive, Industrial and Communications sectors to define requirements, manage deliverables, and support initial design bringup to full production. Work independently while also collaborating effectively in a team environment. Be willing to travel to onsite locations at large corporations to debug hardware, software, and firmware under tight deadlines. Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to support customers. Own the responsibility of providing technical support for customer products. Requirements and Qualifications Job Requirements Bachelors degree in EE, CS, or CE. Minimum 10 years of professional experience, ideally with highperformance, embedded multicore processor/SoC/MPU systems. Lead and mentor a technical support team, fostering a collaborative and highperformance environment. Strong debugging skills and experience with benchtop equipment such as protocol analyzers/exercisers, JTAG debuggers, logic analyzers, and oscilloscopes. Create, update, and deliver technical training materials to address evolving customer and product needs. Experience with RISCV, MIPS or ARMbased embedded processors. Experience with scripting (Python, Perl, TCL, etc.). Experience with boardlevel debug & bringup. Strong leadership skills and experience. Strong teamwork, communication, and presentation skills. Preferred Qualifications Customerfacing experience. Experience working with Marketing and Sales teams. Experience with hardware design. Experience with Gigabit Ethernet, PCIe, TSN, functional safety, faulttolerant MPU architectures, processor software stack, and ecosystem.
