Summary Of Position Our client seeks an experienced Project Director to assist with their expansion in the Calgary market. The firm already has projects underway in Calgary and is looking for a talented individual to manage projects, while also taking on the responsibilities of growing this firms presence in Calgary, building client relationships, and driving local business development efforts. Youd have plenty of support in this role, including extensive business development coaching and training, and collaborating with the partners in businessdevelopment efforts and pursuits (theyll fly in to attend meetings with you, etc.). Role Responsibilities In collaboration with the principals, develop and implement the strategic plan for launching and growing the Calgary office Lead architectural project teams to deliver highquality design solutions that align with client goals, regulatory requirements, and industry standards. Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as the primary point of contact and ensuring client satisfaction from project inception to completion. Develop project schedules, budgets, and resource plans to meet delivery deadlines and financial targets. Coordinate closely with internal and external teams, including clients, contractors, consultants, and regulatory agencies, to drive project progress. Oversee the preparation and review of architectural drawings, specifications, and contract documents to ensure accuracy and compliance. Identify and mitigate project risks proactively to minimize impacts on timelines and budgets. Mentor and guide junior staff, fostering their professional growth and ensuring high standards in project execution. Represent the firm at client meetings, industry events, and networking opportunities, positioning the firm as a trusted partner in Calgary. Work closely with the partners to establish a brand presence in Calgary, including local business development initiatives and networking. Qualifications Bachelors or Masters degree in Architecture or related field Professional Alberta Architectural license required (AAA) 10+ years of experience in architectural project management Ideally have been involved in commercial and industrial projects, such as distribution centres, car dealerships, warehouses, etc. with a high level of design quality (this firm has excellent design work), if not, then an interest in pursuing this type of work Strong local market network in Calgary and proven experience in business development and client relationship management a proven track record (beyond proposal involvement) Effective leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach to team and client interactions Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, and project management tools such as Microsoft Project Strong organizational and problemsolving skills with a keen eye for detail Comprehensive knowledge of Alberta building codes, zoning regulations, and industry standards Experience in establishing and growing a team or office location is a plus What Our Client Offers Amazing opportunity to spearhead the growth of the Calgary studio Flexible work environment with remote options initially and hybrid opportunities as the office is established Exposure to diverse project types with a mix of new and repeat clients Competitive compensation aligned with 2024 market rates and experience Clear trajectory for career growth, with a pathway to Senior Associate/Principal roles Handson involvement in building and leading a new team in Calgary Opportunities for technical and professional learning and development Work remotely initially, then enter an office space but youll continue to have a flexible, hybrid model.
