Corporate Security Officer KGS Group is seeking an experienced Corporate Security Officer to join our growing Legal team. Our work in Manitoba ranges from the design and construction of major hydro dams to the first large diameter tunneling works in the province to a variety of engineering services for noteworthy local landmarks such as The Forks Riverwalk, the Canadian Museum for Human Rights, the Bell MTS Centre and Birds Hill Lake, to name a few. The Role The Security Officer is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the overall security position and strategy for KGS Group, ensuring the safety of the companys assets, personnel, and sensitive information. As a member of the legal team, the Security Officer will oversee both physical and digital security measures, manage compliance with client security clearance requirements, and work closely with internal and external stakeholders to protect company operations. This position is critical for safeguarding confidential projects and meeting stringent security standards for clients. Your Key Responsibilities Ownership over development and execution of a comprehensive security strategy that addresses physical, cyber, and information security, as personnel security for employees handling sensitive projects. Oversee all aspects of physical security, including facility access, surveillance, and emergency preparedness, ensuring the protection of assets across multiple locations. Manage implementation of personnel and company security protocols, including background checks, security clearance, and employee training on security best practices. Support development and delivery of security awareness training programs for employees and project teams to understand the importance of security protocols, including handling of classified or sensitive information and client specific requirements. Evaluate project proposals to determine whether the company can comply with the security requirements for the project. Collaborate with IT and Legal teams to establish cybersecurity policies, protect intellectual property, and ensure compliance with data privacy laws. Ensure compliance with industry regulations and specific client security clearance requirements; coordinate with relevant authorities to maintain clearances and certifications. Perform internal security audits and conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities in physical and digital environments. Ownership over development and execution of incident response protocols for security breaches, intrusions, and cyber threats, providing guidance on remediation and prevention. Lead crisis management efforts, coordinating response to security incidents, including natural disasters, and cyberattacks. About You Must be eligible for security clearances for both government and private sector clients. This position requires eligibility to obtain and maintain Government of Canada security clearance. Due to security clearance requirements, applicants must be Canadian citizens. Bachelors degree in Security Management, Information Security/Cybersecurity, Criminal Justice, Business or a related field; Professional certifications (e.g., CISSP, CPP) preferred. 10+ years of progressive experience in corporate security. Military or RCMP background is a benefit. Deep understanding of physical security, cybersecurity, and regulatory compliance requirements. Experience managing security clearances and working with government agencies or clients with high-security demands. Experience administering the Contract Security Program (CSP) for personnel/facility clearance. Experience managing security programs, risk assessments, audits, or incident response. Strong leadership, communication, and crisis management skills, with the ability to work effectively under pressure. Indepth knowledge of security technologies, risk management frameworks, and best practices in corporate security. Expertise in security protocols, incident response planning, and crisis management. Ability to develop a securityconscious culture within the organization, including training and employee engagement in security policies. Familiarity with laws and regulations governing security and data protection, such as GDPR, CCPA, and industryspecific requirements. Experience aligning to ISO/IEC 27001 or equivalent (NIST).
