Our client is a successful construction services growing business in Coquitlam. Looking for a CPA with strong leadership experience to oversee the corporate office accounting team. Position Overview The Controller is responsible for the financial & management reporting and accounting operations of the company including maintaining an adequate system of accounting records and internal controls. The Controller is responsible for the preparation of the annual budgets, monthly forecasting, and cash flow management. Reporting to the CFO, this role is integral to the success of the company. As an experienced Controller, you will provide guidance to the accounting department including accounting, AR & AP and have a key role in building a scalable accounting organization to facilitate the companys growth mandate. Responsibilities: Oversees the day-to-day functions of the Accounting Department including AR, AP and accounting teams. Review accounts receivable, aging reports and assist with direct reports for collections. Supervise the payment process to vendors and subcontractors Leads the annual budget development process, monthly estimating and forecasting processes. Financial and management reporting, consolidations, month end and year end close procedures, job costing, variance analysis, performance metrics and KPIs. Effectively communicates financial information to all relevant parties and increases their understanding of that information. Development of accounting policies and internal controls, owning, maintaining, and ensuring general ledger integrity. Cash management, treasury function, cash forecasting and bank reporting. Maintains and develops financial staff by effectively recruiting, selecting, orienting, managing, and training employees. Build a scalable accounting function to integrate M&A activities into back office ensuring accurate and timely reporting and record keeping. Lead the external audit and tax engagements. Oversee payroll, sales tax, regulatory remittances. (WCB, GST, BC EHT). Mentoring direct reports to grow in their roles & responsibilities as the company continues to grow Lead member of the MS Dynamics BC sustainment and enhancement team recommending future development, & maintenance of the system. Requirements: Bachelors degree in accounting/finance Chartered Professional Accountant designation (CPA) with 5+ years experience as an accounting manager or controller and/or big 4 accounting experience. Audit experience is required. Experience in a job costing within a construction environment including percentage of completion accounting for revenue recognition. Demonstrated proficiency in the use of sophisticated MRP/ERP systems including PSA, MS Dynamics (or NAV). Agent for change challenging the status quo. Experience with Jet Reports, Excel power pivots functionality, SSRS reporting. Working knowledge of other business analytics methodologies and software an asset. Experience in financial planning and analysis experience including budgeting and forecasting, financial modelling, metric and KPI analytics in support of decision making. Strong operational accounting experience (month-end close, financial statements, etc.) Strong leadership experience in dealing with remote teams Demonstrated proficiency developing or improving policies, procedures, and internal controls.
