We are seeking an experienced, accomplished, and selfmotivated Design Electrical Engineering Candidate/Engineer or Technologist to work in the Electrical group based out of our Collingwood, Barrie or Orillia offices . This position is responsible for creating and implementing processes and designs using computeraided design (CAD) software and other software tools. This position will mainly work on projects from the transportation department. Typical projects include traffic signals, roadway lighting and engineering peerreview projects. The variety of work provides challenges for the successful candidate to advance their skills and practical experience in a collaborative environment. Key Responsibilities: Prepare drawings for various designs including Title blocks, base plans, linework, single line diagrams, lighting layouts, wiring diagrams, installation details, photometric designs, voltage drops, fault current calculations, etc. Perform engineering calculations using relevant software and engineering design standards. Planning and design of transportation projects using appropriate software. Report writing, project coordination and management. Prepare single line diagram to identify the power supplies for traffic signal controllers and street lighting systems. Prepare load calculations to determine transformer size and service feeder calculations and duct bank designs. Prepare roadway lighting design and photometric layout using AGi32 software. Coordinate with the utilities and review their designs for the final construction approvals. Coordinate site/field visits to review and confirm existing conditions. Provide tendering assistance including preparing cost estimates, special provisions, answering contractor questions. Provide construction assistance including preconstruction coordination, review staked equipment locations, construction progress inspections, site inspection reports. Key Position Requirements: Degree in Electrical Engineering (Preferred) or College diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology. Minimum of 3+ years of engineering design experience, preferably in the consulting environment. Ability to obtain P.Eng. in the Province of Ontario (Preferred) or C.E.T/C.Tech. Full knowledge of AutoCAD and AGi32 software. Knowledge of MicroStation and AutoLux is an asset. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Understanding of the Ontario Electrical safety Code. Strong communication and technical writing skills. Enthusiasm to work in a team structure and a willingness to guide, help and collaborate with others. Understanding of relevant legislation, guidelines and standards. Experience with business development and project management is an asset. Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects and work independently under minimal supervision. Valid drivers license and reliable transportation. Expected Hiring Range for This Position Technologist: $55,000 to $85,000. Engineering Candidate/Engineer: $67,000 to $110,000.
