Job Description

We are currently looking for an enthusiastic and highly driven Director of Inventory Planning & Logistics within our Planning, Traffic & Supplies department. The ideal candidate will have at least 2-4 years of related experience. This position oversees the Inventory Planning and Traffic departments, and is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, training and evaluation thereof. They are responsible for managing inventory and allocating resources, coordinating supply chain operations to ensure intra-day deadlines are met, providing analysis and planning of store level inventory targets, as well as providing analysis and recommendations to enhance efficiency, and to achieve corporate sales and inventory goals. The position also oversees the efficient, cost-effective, and timely transportation of goods both domestically and internationally, managing inbound/outbound logistics, carrier negotiations, and regulatory compliance. Some of the main responsibilities include: Oversee and provide professional development and training for the Allocation/Planning team and for the Supplies purchasing team. Ensure that Company inventory is optimized by shipping right amount to right store in a timely manner. Maximize sales and minimize freight and handling expenses. Coordinate efforts with DC operations, Traffic and Merchandising. Ensure the replenishment system is properly utilized and aligned to achieve the company sales and revenue objectives. Ensure that users are trained, and upgrades are executed to meet changing needs of the business. Guide Inventory Planning team in maximizing New Release sales through proper initial placement of goods; thereby minimizing out of stocks. Adjust and update Allocation Matrix, algorithms and forecasting methods as business changes. Oversee the analysis and planning of store level inventory targets, including company-wide builds/declines of product for seasonal needs, new store allocation and pre-opening builds. Provide reporting on in stock rates, store inventory levels to goal and promotional levels. Communicate and coordinate builds with Store Operations, Merchandising and DC operations. Maintain working knowledge of technology, allocation tools and best practices to ensure the company remains on the leading edge of inventory utilization. Create annual freight budget and monitor performance to assure compliance and report changes that impact expenses. Maintain freight vendor relationships; negotiate pricing agreements and contracts for all carriers (small package, LTL/TL, international air and ocean, domestic air and expedited, blanket wrap and Puerto Rico). Perform carrier/vendor performance evaluations and identify trends. Determine inbound and outbound routings/carrier selection based on cost analysis and performance; maintain and distribute Vendor Routing Guides. Guide and encourage other departments to make most appropriate decisions possible as related to the transportation function; for new stores as well, including creation of new store opening schedule. Maintain Traffic Management System (TMS) carrier and routing databases and functions. International shipment coordination, documentation and compliance. Freight payment, auditing, and chargeback processing as well as investigation of causes of damage or loss; submit freight claims. Manage the supply purchasing function and verify new skus are sourced to ensure lowest possible prices and that all skus meet quality standards. Ensure steady and consistent communication with the field team. Other duties as assigned. This position is for an existing vacancy and we are looking to fill this role immediately.
