Responsibilities Conduct feasibility studies in mining operation and evaluation Plan programs for data acquisition, analysis and mapping to assist in the development of civil engineering projects Plan programs for data acquisition, analysis and mapping to assist in the development of waste management projects Prepare recommendations and reports for the construction or improvement of civil engineering projects Conduct studies of groundwater flow and contamination Analyze reports and prepare recommendations on settlement of buildings, stability of slopes, and effects of earthquakes to support construction and civil engineering projects Supervise technicians, technologists and other engineers and review and approve designs, calculations and cost estimates Confer with clients and other members of the engineering team and conduct research to determine project requirements Develop construction specifications and procedures Evaluate and recommend appropriate building and construction materials Interpret, review and approve survey and civil design work Conduct site visits to gather relevant information Ensure construction plans meet guidelines and specifications of building codes and other regulations Establish and monitor construction work schedules Conduct technical analyses of survey and field data for development of topographic, soil, hydrological or other information and prepare reports Act as project or site supervisor for land survey or construction work Prepare contract documents and review and evaluate tenders for construction projects Plan and design water and waste management systems Plan and design highway/roadway projects Plan and design bridges Monitor air, water and soil quality Develop procedures to clean up contaminated sites Design and plan various types of dams Conduct feasibility studies Supervision 1 to 2 people Credentials Eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) by a provincial or territorial association Area of specialization Geotechnical Who can apply for this job?
