We are currently seeking a Criminal Lawyer to join our dynamic team. Key Responsibilities: Client Representation: Advocate for clients in criminal cases, including arraignment, bail hearings, pretrial motions, trials, and sentencing. Case Management: Manage a caseload effectively, including gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and preparing legal documents. Legal Research: Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to support case strategies and arguments. Strategy Development: Develop and implement defense strategies tailored to each case. Courtroom Advocacy: Represent clients in court with professionalism and confidence, presenting evidence and making persuasive arguments. Negotiations: Negotiate with prosecutors for plea deals and reduced sentences when appropriate. Client Communication: Maintain clear and consistent communication with clients, providing updates and legal advice throughout the process. Exceptional Researcher you will be dealing with criminal law, specifically DUI, sex assault, child pornography, DUI, and domestic assault cases. You must be quick and accurate in your research and be able to write comprehensive briefs. Excellent Communicator you bring with you the ability to quickly build rapport with clients and colleagues and you do not shy away from inperson or online court work. Independent youre selfmotivated and you manage and organize your time well. You Should Possess: In depth knowledge of Canadian criminal law and procedure. Very strong legal research and analytical skills. Applicants must demonstrate proficiency with online research platforms such as Westlaw. Significant legal writing skills. Applicants must have experience in and be capable of drafting high quality legal documents. The ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines in a fastpaced working environment. Strong court notetaking skills. Candidates must be able to record evidence quickly and accurately at trial. Experience in legal file management. A great team player, willing to dive in and assist wherever needed, without being asked. The successful candidate would have shared use of a legal assistant. Sharing out of phone number to client and for police calls. Good reputation amongst defence, Crowns, and judges. What Makes You the Ideal Candidate?
