Scarborough Subway Extension (SSE - SRS) The 50/50 joint venture between Aecon Infrastructure Management Inc. and FCC Canada Ltd. will bring the TTCs Line 2 subway service nearly eight kilometres farther into Scarborough, replacing Line 3 (the Scarborough RT). It will extend from Kennedy Station to Sheppard Avenue and McCowan Road, providing quick and seamless transit for those heading into and out of the downtown core and those travelling within Scarborough. Project Opportunity As part of the Scarborough Transit Connect project, FCC is looking for a Superintendent to join our team. The Superintendent is responsible for ensuring the safety and productivity of crew members and following OH&S and company policies, procedures, and guidelines. They are a key participant in the relationship between the company, other contractors, the client, and all other project stakeholders. The Superintendent is required to act in a professional manner that will strengthen these relationships in a positive way. Reports to: Station Construction Manager Main Responsibilities Promote, lead, and execute a Safety-First culture for all employees, subcontractors, and consultants in compliance with STC''''s Environmental Health and Safety Program and provincial occupational health and safety legislation. Promote safety in all activities and engage in safe work plan development, hazard assessments, FLRAs, and mentorship with crew. Provide guidance to team members by leading safety meetings and inspections. Track and report on project quality control, resource requirements, and customer or labour relations to the Station Construction Manager. Drive quality, efficiency, and productivity of work crews. Direct Foremen on productivity issues and monitor the work performance, working with the Foremen and crews to overcome challenges. Follow project plans and budget while ensuring the Subcontractors, Foremen, and crews perform to meet production goals. Assist the Foremen to translate drawings, specifications, and work requirements into a prioritized work plan. Understand the scope and sequencing of work, plan and prioritize the work, effectively redirecting crews and equipment to assigned tasks and minimize downtime on sites. Coordinate scopes and prioritize access for multiple trades and Subcontractors to deliver project on time. Work with the Station Construction Manager to identify equipment and labour resource requirements and to periodically reassess daily goals to meet forecasted production, schedules, and budgets. Build and maintain a strong functional team through instruction, training, coaching, and team building. Ensure work completed meets quality standards and that preparation and submittal of required reports, documentation, and logs are completed. Oversee the approval of daily production records and reporting on work progress, which include: Daily quality control inspections and checklists. Report of violations or disciplinary actions. HSE inspections and reports. Foremen records and tracking of all rental items, ensuring returns are completed and documented. Project specific forms/inspections/tracking as required. Daily field log, ensuring submittal for each Foreman is completed on a daily basis. Review field log with the Station Construction Manager to ensure accuracy of phase codes and reported items. Education And Qualifications 15 years experience in heavy civil construction projects with a minimum of 5 years experience in a supervisory position overseeing and directing staff and subcontractors. Knowledge and understanding of Ontario Building Code, construction methods, trade coordination, safety procedures, and labour relations in a unionized work environment. Ability to guide safe work practices in a high-pressure environment while maintaining project quality, schedule, and budget. Thorough knowledge of applicable OH&S legislation. Exceptional ability to multitask in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Job Requirements Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills. Proficient Computer skills in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) Must have a valid class G driver''''s license. Flexibility to work the project schedule which may include overtime, weekends, and/or night shift as required. Be a champion of inclusion and diversity.
