General Description We are seeking an innovative, resultsdriven, and proactive professional to join our team as a Maintenance Manager overseeing our maintenance shops in Kitchener and in Brantford. This role is responsible for ensuring the safe operation and minimal downtime of all Waste Connections of Canada vehicles for two waste hauling locations. The Maintenance Manager will develop and oversee a Preventative Maintenance Program aimed at reducing vehicle breakdowns, minimizing major repairs, and extending the lifespan of fleet assets. Responsibilities Manage the annual maintenance budget, monitor expenditures, and develop business cases for capital investments and equipment modifications. Lead safety initiatives, including safety meetings, facility inspections, WSIB documentation, and participation in the Joint Health & Safety Committee. Oversee preventative maintenance (PM) programs, ensuring timely inspections, compliance, and reduction of roadside breakdowns and regulatory issues. Direct daily shop operations, including scheduling, work assignments, repairs, and control of labor hours and parts usage. Manage parts procurement, inventory levels, ordering systems, and invoice reconciliation to ensure costeffective and uninterrupted operations. Recruit, train, and supervise mechanics and welders, ensuring highquality diagnostics and repair capability. Provide leadership and coaching to foster a culture of safety, efficiency, accountability, and continuous improvement. Handle employee relations matters such as performance management, discipline, and grievance resolution. Qualifications 3+ years of experience as a Maintenance Manager, with strong preventative maintenance and asset management expertise. Solid knowledge of heavyduty trucks; Heavy Duty Truck Mechanic license (310T) and 5+ years of related trades/mechanic experience are assets. Industry familiarity preferred, including waste management, container shops, and welding. Strong communication, documentation, and computer skills. Proven leadership and interpersonal abilities to manage and develop a highperforming team. Ability to pass all preemployment requirements.
