Position Description This role is hybrid and requires you to be at our downtown Toronto and/or Client office at a minimum 2 days per week - subject to change at any time. The Application Developer (Power BI) contributes to the organizations data and analytics capabilities by designing, developing, and maintaining impactful dashboards, data models, and reporting solutions. This role collaborates with a diverse range of stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into accessible, meaningful, and actionable insights. Responsibilities Requirements Gathering & Collaboration Engage with stakeholders across technical and non-technical teams to understand reporting requirements and business objectives. Facilitate requirementgathering sessions, workshops, and discussions in a respectful, inclusive manner. Convert business needs into clear functional and technical specifications. Present early design concepts and incorporate feedback to improve solutions. Power BI Development Develop user-friendly and accessible Power BI dashboards, reports, datasets, and semantic models. Create and maintain DAX measures, KPIs, and calculations that support accurate analysis. Optimize data models for performance, scalability, and usability. Ensure visualizations support inclusive design principles and meet accessibility standards where applicable. Data Integration & Pipeline Support Support the development and maintenance of data pipelines, dataflows, and ingestion processes into Power BI. Work collaboratively with data engineering teams to ensure data quality, consistency, and reliability. Troubleshoot data discrepancies and refresh issues with a solutions-focused approach. Quality Assurance & Documentation Validate reports and dashboards to ensure accuracy, reliability, and relevance. Create and maintain documentation such as data dictionaries, model diagrams, and transformation logic. Adhere to BI development standards, version control practices, and governance frameworks. Communication, Enablement, & Support Provide clear explanations of technical concepts to audiences with varying levels of data literacy. Deliver user training sessions, demos, and support as needed to promote effective use of analytics tools. Foster an inclusive environment where all team members feel respected, heard, and supported. Required Qualifications to Be Successful In This Role 3+ years of experience developing Power BI dashboards, data models, and reports. Strong knowledge of DAX, Power Query (M), and data modeling principles. Experience working with data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, and data ingestion methods. Proficiency with SQL and relational databases. Experience working with Power BI Service (e.g., gateways, workspace management, refresh scheduling, RLS/OLS). Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and disciplines. Curious, analytical mindset with strong problemsolving abilities. Ability to collaborate in hybrid working environments. Detail-oriented, with a commitment to accuracy, consistency, and ethical data practices. NicetoHave Skills Experience with Azure (Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, Databricks). Knowledge of programming languages such as Python or R for advanced analytics. Understanding of BI/Analytics DevOps, CI/CD, and automated deployments. Experience with accessibility standards and inclusive design in data visualization. Compensation CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $80,000$130,000. This role is an existing vacancy.
