Key Responsibilities Develop, maintain, and enhance applications using COBOL in Micro Focus environments. Create and maintain Windows scripts to support batch processing, automation, and operational tasks. Design, write, and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and database objects using Oracle SQL Developer. Analyze existing application logic and data structures to implement enhancements, fixes, and performance improvements. Support production systems by investigating issues, performing root cause analysis, and implementing timely resolutions. Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions. Perform unit testing and support system and user acceptance testing activities. Participate in code reviews, documentation, and knowledge transfer to ensure maintainability and compliance with standards. Follow development best practices and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Required Qualifications Experience developing applications using COBOL, preferably in Micro Focus environments. Strong hands on experience with Oracle databases and SQL Developer. Experience writing and maintaining Windows scripting (e.g., batch, PowerShell). Understanding of batch processing, file handling, and data integration concepts. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience in legacy modernization or hybrid legacy to cloud environments. Familiarity with source control tools and structured SDLC or Agile methodologies. Experience supporting mission critical or regulated enterprise applications. Exposure to performance tuning and database optimization. Mandatory Skills Strong hands on experience developing, enhancing, and maintaining COBOL applications using Micro Focus tools. Solid understanding of batch processing, file handling (VSAM/flat files), and legacy business logic. Oracle Database & SQL Development Proven expertise writing and optimizing SQL queries, stored procedures, and database objects using Oracle SQL Developer. Ability to analyze data models and ensure efficient data access and performance. Windows Scripting & Application Support Experience creating and maintaining Windows batch or PowerShell scripts for automation, job scheduling, and operational support. Strong troubleshooting skills to support production environments and resolve incidents efficiently. Preferred Skills o Experience supporting or modernizing legacy applications, including system upgrades, platform migrations, or integration with newer technologies. 2. SDLC & Development Best Practices o Familiarity with structured SDLC or Agile methodologies, source control systems, and formal release management processes. 3. Performance Tuning & Operational Excellence o Experience with SQL performance tuning, batch optimization, and proactive monitoring of mission critical systems.
