The Agronomy Research & Variety Specialist is a key member of McCains North America Agriculture team, supporting the Agronomy and Seed & Variety Development teams in advancing potato variety development and agronomic innovation. Based at the McCain Research Farm in Florenceville, NB , this role supports the planning and execution of field trials, analysis of research outcomes, and communication of insights that help strengthen McCains potato production practices and variety pipeline. Reporting to the Eastern Agronomy Manager, this position plays an important role in connecting research, agronomy expertise, and grower collaboration to support long-term agricultural success. What You''''ll Be Doing. Research Farm Operations Support day-to-day operations at the McCain Research Farm, assisting with the planning and execution of agronomic and variety research trials. Help improve research farm efficiency through new tools, technologies, and data collection methods. Maintain a safe working environment by following McCains safety standards. Agronomic & Variety Research Assist in planning, executing, analyzing, and reporting agronomy research trials under the direction of the Eastern Agronomy Manager. Partner with the Variety Research Manager to support variety trials aligned with the North America Variety Program. Ensure research meets scientific standards required for stage-gate evaluation of new varieties. Share research insights through field days, grower meetings, and internal discussions. Research Program Support Support the development and maintenance of McCains Agronomy Research Program across North America. Assist with project protocols, research data management, and final reporting. Contribute to executive summaries and recommend improvements to research processes and tools. Professional Development & Industry Engagement Continue building expertise in potato production and agricultural research. Collaborate with internal teams and grower partners to support McCain Agriculture initiatives. Represent McCain as a trusted partner within the potato industry. What You''''ll Need To Be Successful. Bachelors degree in Agricultural Science or a related field required; Masters degree preferred. Knowledge of experimental design, statistical analysis, and research reporting. Strong analytical, organizational, and computer skills. Practical experience in production agriculture is an asset; potato experience is beneficial but not required. Strong project management and collaboration skills. Ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with grower partners and internal stakeholders. Strong time management and prioritization skills. Commitment to workplace safety. Valid drivers license.
