Job Description - Landscape Architectural Technologist - Summer Student (54769)# Job Description| | || --- | --- || Landscape Architectural Technologist - Summer Student up to 5 months Job Number: 54769 *This is for 1 temporary full-time position for up to 5 months* Edmonton''''s Urban Park system, including our river valley, is among the largest in the world. Your role will have you using your professional skills to assist the Open Space Design team complete site inspections and study landscape plans to ensure landscape construction meets appropriate standards. Your background and experience must reflect your abilities to undertake the following specific duties: * Under the supervision of a Landscape Architectural Technologist I, II, or III, complete landscape site monitoring (including period audits, milestone inspections and site visits) to ensure conformance with the Design and Construction Standards (Volume 5) Landscaping. * Complete observation reports with construction photos to capture construction progress, and provide updates to the Landscape Architect and Project Manager. * Attend site visits with the project team during construction to assist in quality assurance according to current construction processes and standards. * Support the Landscape Architect and Project Manager with the CCC and FAC process by conducting inspections and reviewing quality assurance documentation for CCC/FAC approval. * Ensure all construction work performed is in accordance with the Branch''''s Occupational Health and Safety Program and Enviso. * Other supportive duties as assigned. Qualifications : * Currently attending a full-time post-secondary program in Landscape Architectural Technology or related post secondary program. **Asset**: * Experience in landscape contract/specification writing and interpretation. * Familiarity with reading engineering drawings with landscape design, knowledge of the Design and Construction Standards Volume 5 Landscaping Standards. **Skills required for success**: * This role will be required to perform field work outside. * Knowledge of principles and practices of landscape architecture. * Proficient with Google Workspace (Gmail, Google Docs, Google Sheets) and Microsoft Office. * Excellent organization, prioritization and communication skills. * Highly motivated, with a strong desire to learn and grow within the field of Landscape Architecture. * Alignment to our Cultural Commitments and Leadership Competencies (). * Embracing a culture of equity, diversity, reconciliation and inclusion. **Conditions of Employment**: * Valid Alberta Class 5 driver''''s license (or provincial equivalent).
