Job Description

(Office-Based) Job Summary We are currently hiring one or two Senior Mechanical Engineers to join our marine engineering design offices in Victoria, BC, with an additional position planned for Burnaby, BC as the team continues to grow. This is a non-seagoing, office-based mechanical engineering position focused on marine mechanical systems design, engineering analysis, regulatory compliance, and project delivery for commercial vessel new build and refit projects. The successful candidate will bring strong experience in marine mechanical systems and will play a senior technical role supporting multidisciplinary project teams. Key Responsibilities Lead mechanical engineering work on vessel new build and refit projects Design, analyze, and review marine mechanical systems including propulsion, piping, HVAC, steering, and auxiliary systems Prepare engineering drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical reports Ensure designs comply with Canadian marine regulations and classification society requirements Coordinate with project managers, naval architects, clients, shipyards, and other engineering disciplines Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior and intermediate engineers Support construction and refit phases, including site visits and surveys as required Apply sound professional engineering judgment to resolve technical and regulatory issues Required Qualifications Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline Minimum 8+ years of experience in a marine engineering design office or shipyard environment Proven experience with vessel refits and/or new vessel design projects Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Canada, or eligible for registration Strong technical writing, reporting, and communication skills Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently Must be legally entitled to work in Canada Preferred Skills and Technical Experience Strong understanding of marine mechanical systems and vessel arrangements Experience with propulsion systems, piping design, and machinery integration Familiarity with Transport Canada, classification society rules, and Canadian marine regulatory frameworks Experience with marine CAD and design tools (e.g., AutoCAD, ShipConstructor, or similar) Experience working on commercial vessels is considered an asset Compensation and Benefits Competitive salary commensurate with experience Performance-based bonus program Flexible work environment Extended health and dental benefits Professional development, mentorship, and career growth opportunities Job Type: Full-time, Permanent In person #J-18808-Ljbffr
