This role oversees all aquatics operations, including swim lessons, competitive swim programming, water fitness classes, aquatic events, and the daily supervision of aquatic facilities. The Head of Aquatics ensures a safe, welcoming, and high-quality environment for Members while leading a team of instructors, lifeguards, coaches, and deck leads. The following outlines the primary responsibilities of this role, including but not limited to: Oversee all aquatics operations and programming at the Club, including but not limited to swim lessons, competitive swim teams, water fitness programs, aquatic events, and daily pool operations. Maintain positive relationships with Members, guests, and parents by delivering exceptional service and responding promptly to inquiries, feedback, and program requests. Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and supervise aquatics staff including lifeguards, instructors, deck leads, and swim team coaches while fostering a culture of professionalism and accountability. Ensure all aquatics staff maintain required certifications and complete mandatory training and in-service sessions while following established safety standards and procedures. Oversee the safe operation of all aquatic facilities including pools, decks, splash pad, cold plunges, and surrounding areas while ensuring compliance with applicable health and safety regulations. Develop and manage aquatics programming schedules, ensuring programs are engaging, well-organized, and aligned with Member interests and Club standards. Collaborate with internal departments including Concierge, Marketing, and Communications to promote aquatics programs, events, and schedule updates. Monitor facility operations and equipment to ensure proper maintenance, readiness, and safe conditions for all aquatic activities. Maintain accurate records including program participation, safety logs, incident reports, and operational documentation. Participate in management and committee meetings, preparing departmental reports and providing updates on aquatics operations, programming, and Member feedback. Work with the Athletic & Wellness Director and Finance team to support budget management, monitor program performance, and ensure responsible use of departmental resources. Research and coordinate aquatics supplies, equipment, and services to support efficient and high-quality program delivery. Continuously evaluate and enhance aquatics programs and services to meet evolving Member needs and maintain a high-quality aquatic experience. Serve as a professional ambassador for The Boulevard Club and complete additional duties or special projects as assigned by the Athletic & Wellness Director. Qualifications Minimum 35 years of experience in aquatics management or related roles, including supervisory responsibilities. Diploma or degree in Recreation, Kinesiology, Early Childhood Education, or a related field preferred. Certified Pool Operator (CPO) required. National Lifeguard (NL) certification required. Standard First Aid / CPR / AED certification required. Lifesaving Society certifications such as Swim Instructor, Aquatic Supervisor Training, Safety Inspector, or coaching certifications considered an asset. NL Instructor / Examiner or Instructor-Trainer certifications considered an asset. High Five: Principles of Healthy Child Development certification considered an asset. Vulnerable Sector Screening required prior to employment due to working with children and youth programs. Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to lead and mentor aquatics staff. Demonstrated ability to foster a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for Members and staff. Compensation: $60,000 $68,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
