Position Overview As an Estimator specializing in Underground Utilities and Civil Earthworks , you will lead the full estimating lifecycle for complex infrastructure projects, including deep utilities, water and sewer systems, large-scale earthworks, grading, roadworks, and site servicing. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage the complete estimating process for large, complex civil projects. Prepare detailed, accurate, and strategic cost estimates aligned with execution plans and risk considerations. Manage multiple high-value tenders simultaneously while maintaining precision and deadlines. Analyze, level, and negotiate subcontractor and supplier quotations to ensure full scope coverage and risk mitigation. Support project handoff by assisting Project Managers with buyouts, tender documentation, and pricing strategy. Develop and maintain advanced cost models using historical data, production rates, geotechnical conditions, and equipment utilization. Identify and assess project risks including design gaps, soil and groundwater challenges, environmental constraints, schedule pressures, and constructability issues. Lead estimate revisions based on updated drawings, addenda, and design changes. Proactively recommend value engineering options, alternative methodologies, and cost-saving strategies. Collaborate closely with operations teams to align bids with realistic production targets, logistics, manpower planning, and equipment strategies. Maintain and enhance databases for labour, equipment, materials, trucking, and benchmark pricing. Build strong industry relationships with owners, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers. Provide market insights and competitive intelligence to support procurement strategy and tender selection. Qualifications & Experience Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field. Minimum 5+ years of estimating experience in underground utilities, earthworks, and civil infrastructure. Strong leadership and mentoring abilities to support junior estimators. Advanced proficiency in estimating software, digital takeoff tools, and measurement systems. In-depth knowledge of civil construction methods including trenching, shoring, dewatering, pipe systems, soil classifications, and municipal standards. Strong understanding of contract types (unit price, lump sum, design-build, CM) and associated risk analysis. Strategic mindset with the ability to work accurately under tight deadlines. Solid understanding of scheduling, production rates, risk management, and real-world construction constraints. Why Join Us?
