Job Description

Whats The Role Shell Canada is seeking a Lubricants Technical Advisor Mining (also known as Senior Technical Advisor - Mining internally). This role is located in Northern Alberta and is exclusively dedicated to supporting the oil sands business. The Lubricants Technical Advisor Mining provides expert guidance on lubricant applications, performance optimization, and equipment reliability. The role offers onsite support to maintenance and reliability teams, with a focus on troubleshooting, inspection services, identifying costreduction opportunities, and enhancing asset performance through valueimprovement initiatives. This is a remote role with frequent business travel (5060%) to Fort McMurray, AB, to perform fieldbased technical activities while engaging with Shells Platinum oil sands customer. Key Responsibilities Collaborate closely with Shells sales teams and customers to: Deliver tailored technical advice and product recommendations. Troubleshoot complex lubrication challenges in the field. Demonstrate the commercial and operational value of Shells lubricant solutions. Support the deployment of new technologies and services that enhance customer performance. Accountabilities include: Serve as the dedicated technical contact for major oil sands mining accounts. Provide frontline technical support, including problem-solving, application advice, and troubleshooting. Specify appropriate Shell lubricants for offhighway mining vehicles and fixedplant machinery, ensuring alignment with OEM specifications. Conduct lubrication assessments and surveys, identify rationalization opportunities, and lead field trials. Support maintenance and reliability teams with onsite inspections and valuedriven improvement projects. Offer specialized expertise in automated lubrication systems and open gear lubrication. Perform operational and shutdown inspections of critical mining equipment using diagnostic tools and techniques to advance reliability objectives. Deliver technical training to customers and internal Shell teams to build product and application knowledge. Drive both topline and bottomline business growth in line with the business strategies, objectives, rules of winning, and enterprisefirst focus through P&L management. Provide guidance on HSE, occupational health, and product handling/disposal best practices, ensuring compliance with relevant local legislation. Escalate complex technical challenges to the Team Lead, Sector Lubricants Technical Advisor, or the Product Application Specialist network, collaborating to ensure issues are fully resolved and following up locally as required. Utilize Sales First tools including Salesforce, standardized documentation templates, and demonstrated value records in alignment with global standards to deliver demonstrable Technology Leadership or ValueLed outcomes. Consistently act in accordance with Shells Global Business Principles, Code of Conduct, and HSE standards and policies. Qualifications Legal authorization to work in Canada on a fulltime basis for anyone other than the current employer. Diploma in Technology with a specialization in Industrial Heavy Equipment, Materials, Mechanical, Petroleum, or Chemical fields, or another related technical discipline. Professional certifications such as Certified Lubrication Specialist (CLS), Machinery Lubrication Technician (MLT), Machine Lubricant Analyst (MLA), and/or Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic are highly valued. At least 5 years of relevant experience in lubricants and their applications in mining/heavy construction. Experience in a customerfacing or technical sales support role is preferred. Extensive engineering knowledge in mining, heavy construction, or related industries, with handson mechanical aptitude and strong critical thinking skills. Willingness and ability to travel 5060% (Fort McMurray, AB, Canada). Valid drivers license. Fluency in English.
