Position Overview We are seeking an Automation & Controls Engineer to join our Distribution Engineering Department Under the general direction of the Intelligent Network and Distributed Energy Resource (DER) Connections Section Head, provide technical expertise and guidance to prototype, design, configure and maintain foundational intelligent network devices that support visibility, automation, reliability, protection, generation and future enterprise applications on the distribution system. Responsibilities Lead complex studies and prepare Capital Investment Justification (CIJ) documents related to intelligent network devices that support visibility, automation, reliability, protection, generation and future enterprise applications on the distribution system. Lead project implementation by sealing designs and drawings, and preparing estimates, specifications, and material procurement. Prepare and seal protective device configurations, particularly as they are incorporated into automation systems. Configure and test intelligent network and communication devices and develop corporately accepted standards when required. Develop Distribution physical and cybersecurity standards and participate in the Corporate Industrial Control System Cyber Security Risk Management program team (ICS CSRM). Act as a distribution automation subject matter expert, providing consultation on intelligent network devices, training, guidance and development of staff. Direct and approve manufacturer''''s, contractor''''s and consultant''''s documentation and designs. Perform event analysis, review event files including waveform captures and ensure intelligent network systems are performing to expectations. Develop test procedures for intelligent network devices and participate in their commissioning. Facilitate mainstream integration of pilot projects with stakeholders and existing support departments. Represent the department on external and internal distribution system related committees, working groups and research & development projects. Incorporate safety fundamentals in the design process using Human Error Reduction and Risk Management techniques developed by Corporate Safety. Qualifications Graduate in Electrical/Computer Engineering from a university of recognized standing with a minimum of seven years'''' experience in related utility work covering visibility, automation, reliability, protection, generation, procurement and commissioning, including a minimum of two years'''' experience directing others. Professional member in good standing with Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba (or willingness and ability to attain within a specified amount of time). Demonstrated leadership in planning, organizing, and motivating technical support staff. Demonstrated knowledge and practice of Distribution planning, protection and automation experience. Demonstrated experience and skill managing large projects using recognized project management skills. Demonstrated experience and skill employing lean and critical thinking skills to improve processes and procedures. Must obtain and maintain a current Personnel Risk Assessment and a ''''Clear'''' security rating in accordance with Manitoba Hydro policy P513. Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) Training is required and must be completed prior to transfer date and renewed annually. Possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Province of Manitoba Motor Vehicle Driver''''s Licence. Required to travel by all modes of transportation i.e. air, land and water. Salary Range Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $52.88-$72.45 Hourly, $101,332.40-$138,828.30 Annually.
