Process Operator Location: Edmonton, ABType: Contract Duration: 14 months IntroductionBrunel is currently seeking Shift Process Operators to join our clients team at the Scotford Upgrader. As the Process Operator, you will be part of a shift team that is tasked with the safe and efficient day-to-day operation of our assets. This role will also offer the opportunity to progress in an environment that encourages both personal and professional development, and to be part of some of the most ground-breaking projects anywhere in the industry.The Scotford Complex is a short drive from Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, and consists of a bitumen upgrader, oil refinery, chemicals plant, and a carbon capture and storage (CCS) facility. It is one of North Americas most efficient, modern, and integrated hydrocarbons processing sites, converting oil sands bitumen into finished, marketable products.ResponsibilitiesEnsure that plant operations are conducted in a safe manner, and that all safety and environmental regulations are followedMonitor unit operations and troubleshoot process problemsExecute unit objectives and tasks for the shift to meet the overall production and budget goalsLearning and following Safe Work Practices, Policies and Operating ProceduresPermit work in area of control following standards, policies and procedures for the execution of safe workComplete unit HSSE and Process Safety checksWork with Maintenance and Engineering colleagues for the execution of various maintenance tasksSafe out and isolate equipment as required for repair or maintenance activitiesPerform routine rounds in the plant to observe and verify equipment status and overall plant conditionsEnter clear and complete work orders for execution of tasks by maintenancePerform housekeeping duties as necessary on and around equipment, process area, and control room, keeping equipment and plant site cleanPerform various sampling and testing tasks based on unit needsIdentify opportunities for optimization and/or improvement in area of controlAdhere to Respectful Workplace PoliciesKey Performance AreasMust possess a high school diplomaMust possess a valid driver's licenseMust have a minimum of a 3rd class steam ticket with consideration for a 4th if the candidate possesses production and maintenance experienceAt least 3 years relevant experience is preferredCandidates with second skilling such as previous maintenance experience or trade tickets are preferredUsing safe lifting techniques, able to lift and carry 20 kg from ground to waist levelAbility to work safely wearing a respirator or Self-contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA)Must be willing to participate in an emergency response team including Fire Fighting TrainingWilling to comply with companies drug-free and harassment-free work environment and comply with all safety policies and proceduresHave good mechanical aptitude and equipment troubleshooting abilitiesMust be willing to work overtime shifts, willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays as per the rotating sift scheduleMust be willing to work outdoors in inclement weatherAbility to climb ladders and stairs, work at heights and in confined spacesWhat We OfferWhy work with Brunel?
