The OpportunityDanby is seeking a Customs & Logistics Specialist to support our international trade and transportation and domestic transportation operations in the U.S. and Canada. This role plays a key part in ensuring the compliant, efficient, and cost-effective movement of goods across North America and imports from Asia.The successful candidate will work hands-on with customs brokers, carriers, and internal teams to manage day-to-day customs compliance activities, international and domestic logistics coordination. This is an excellent opportunity for a customs or logistics or transportation professional looking to deepen their experience in global trade within a growing organization.What Youll Do:Customs & Trade Compliance Prepare, review, and maintain import and export documentation to support compliance with U.S. and Canadian customs regulations Support tariff classification, valuation, and country-of-origin determinations Assist with Free Trade Agreement (FTA) documentation and recordkeeping (e.g., USMCA/CUSMA) Coordinate with customs brokers to ensure timely and accurate customs clearance Maintain customs records in accordance with regulatory retention requirements Support responses to routine customs inquiries, audits, and documentation requestsLogistics & Transportation Coordinate domestic and international shipments via air, ocean, rail and ground transportation. Work closely with 3PLs and freight forwarders for organizing shipments from Asia and Europe to North America. Track shipments and proactively follow up on delays, documentation gaps, or exceptions. Create Periodic Tracking reports for shipments in transit, in clearance and delivery to warehouses or customers sites. Ensure accurate shipment documentation including bills of lading, airway bills, commercial invoices, packing lists, certificate of origins and PAPS/PARS Support freight cost validation and assist with resolution of carrier billing issues. Review transportation Partner invoices, verify and validate and coordinate processing with Accounts payable. Collaborate with Supply Chain, Warehousing, and Finance teams to support on-time delivery and cost accuracy.Systems & Continuous Improvement Maintain shipment and customs data in transportation and broker systems Create & Support reporting on shipment performance and customs activity Identify opportunities to improve accuracy, visibility, and efficiency within customs and logistics processes Assist with system enhancements, automation initiatives, and process improvements as assignedRequired Qualifications 35 years of experience in customs, international logistics, or trade compliance Working knowledge of U.S. and/or Canadian import/export processes and documentation Experience working with customs brokers and logistics service providers Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities High level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel and standard office tools Ability to analyze data and make recommendations to support service and cost Clear written and verbal communication skillsPreferred Qualifications Experience with HS classification, FTAs, and duty mitigation programs Exposure to domestic, ocean/air freight, intermodal, or cross-border trucking Experience in a consumer goods, manufacturing, or import-focused environment Familiarity with TMS, customs broker portals, or ERP systems Trade compliance or customs certification (e.g., CCS) is an assetWorking Conditions:This is a hybrid role based out of the Guelph, ON office.
