Hays is proud to be partnering with a leading Commercial Real Estate company to hire a skilled General Manager to support a diverse portfolio of Commercial Cleaning of properties across the GTA.This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive and experienced professional to contribute to the smooth operation and maintenance of high-performing assets.Role OverviewThe General Manager will serve as the senior operational leader, responsible for overseeing daytoday service delivery, managing field and office teams, strengthening client relationships, and driving strategic growth initiatives. This is a handson leadership role requiring operational expertise, strong people management, and the ability to execute on ambitious business objectives. The General Manager will work closely with ownership to shape longterm strategy and ensure exceptional service across all accounts.Key ResponsibilitiesOperations ManagementOversee all service operations in collaboration with operational and management teams.Manage scheduling, dispatching, and logistics for field crews and subcontractors, coordinating with scheduling and customer service departments.Ensure all work meets scope requirements, timelines, and compliance with NFPA 96, fire codes, and health & safety standards.Lead equipment procurement, fleet management, and inventory of supplies and chemicals.Develop, document, and implement standard operating procedures to improve efficiency and consistency.Team Leadership & People ManagementRecruit, hire, onboard, and retain field technicians, supervisors, and office staff in partnership with HR.Conduct performance reviews, manage disciplinary matters, and promote a culture of accountability and professionalism.Mentor and develop crew leads and supervisors to strengthen their leadership capabilities.Manage subcontractor relationships and ensure compliance with quality and contractual expectations.Client Relationship ManagementAct as the primary point of contact for key accounts, including property managers, restaurant groups, and franchise operators.Resolve escalations and client concerns promptly to maintain satisfaction and retention.Conduct routine client visits, service audits, and quality assurance checks.Identify upselling opportunities and support new business development.Growth & Strategic InitiativesSupport national expansion efforts and growth into new geographic markets.Build and maintain relationships with general contractors, property managers, and commercial real estate stakeholders.Assist with proposals, RFP responses, and client presentations.Identify acquisition and partnership opportunities within the commercial cleaning and kitchen exhaust services sector.Qualifications & Experience510+ years of management experience in commercial cleaning, building maintenance, fire protection, or related service/trades industries.Strong operational knowledge in kitchen exhaust cleaning, pressure washing, or commercial building services.Experience managing field teams of 20+ employees and/or subcontractor networks.Demonstrated success in client retention and business growth.Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationshipbuilding skills.Proficiency with CRM systems, scheduling platforms, and Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.Valid Ontario drivers licence with a clean driving record.Working familiarity with NFPA 96, Ontario Fire Code, and OHSA requirements is an asset.Postsecondary education in business administration, operations management, or a related field is preferred.Compensation & BenefitsBase Salary: $120,000 annuallyPerformance Bonus: Up to 1015% of base salary based on revenue, margins, retention, and safety KPIsVehicle: Company vehicle and fuel card providedBenefits: Comprehensive health and dental planTechnology: Company laptop and mobile phonePaid Time Off: Competitive vacation and personal daysProfessional Development: Support for relevant training and certificationsEqual Opportunity StatementIf you're interested in this role, click apply now to forward an up-to-date copy of your CV.
