In this role, the HF Centre Manager will develop and implement innovative health and fitness programs that promote community engagement and support member well-being. Collaborating closely with staff and community partners, this position will seek to adapt offerings based on feedback and diverse community needs, ensuring alignment with YMCA Canada standards. The Centre Manager will provide leadership and mentorship to the senior staff team, fostering a culture of teamwork and effective communication while maintaining a safe and inclusive environment. As a key advocate for the YMCAs mission, this role will engage with community initiatives and strengthen relationships to enhance participation and promote health and wellness throughout the GTA. In this role, you will: Develop, promote, and implement a wide range of Health & Fitness programs, including group fitness, personal training, aquatics, and youth initiatives. Ensure alignment with YMCA Canada standards and strategies for child and adolescent health. Foster community partnerships to enhance member engagement. Seek member feedback to adapt and improve programs based on community needs. Oversee the role of Service Leaders, providing guidance and support to the senior staff team, including Directors and Managers. Recruit, coach, and mentor staff to enhance their skills and capabilities. Ensure staff and volunteers receive proper orientation and training. Facilitate conflict resolution to promote effective teamwork. Manage risk in Health & Fitness programs, ensuring compliance with Occupational Health and Safety regulations. Conduct regular assessments to identify hazards and implement safety measures. Oversee escalated member incidents and accidents, ensuring effective outcomes. Provide leadership in emergencies and ensure staff are trained in safety protocols. Develop initiatives aligned with the YMCA Strategic Plan for a healthy membership mix. Collaborate with stakeholders to create programs that meet diverse community needs. Engage community partners to foster impactful relationships and tailored programs. Assess member satisfaction and adjust strategies to enhance the experience. Support the management of the annual budget, maintaining expenditures while developing projects that contribute to the operational success of the Health & Fitness programs. Provide leadership regarding the Centres philanthropic initiatives, emphasizing the importance of volunteerism and community involvement. Educate staff and volunteers on the value of philanthropy and encourage their participation in community service. Provide support to the Senior General Manager in strengthening relationships with community partners, members, and volunteers to boost engagement, and assist in participating in community events to promote the YMCAs mission and values. Perform other duties as assigned. You bring: Postsecondary education in Physical Education, Kinesiology, Recreation, or a related field, or equivalent experience. Current certifications in a variety of program areas, with preference for NCCP, Health and Safety, YMCA Swim Instructor, NLS and other Lifesaving Society Certifications. YMCA Aquatic Trainer or YMCA Training Educator status preferred. Minimum 3 years of seniorlevel management experience, demonstrating superior leadership skills. Knowledge and experience in developing and managing budgets. Previous experience in development and implementation of new programs is an asset. Previous experience in program evaluation and program research methods is an asset. Computer skills Microsoft applications, CLASS, ABM, Raisers Edge preferred. Welldeveloped conflict resolution skills. Strong interpersonal and relationshipbuilding skills, with the ability to establish rapport and communicate effectively with members, staff, and volunteers. Excellent written communication skills. Ability to speak multiple languages is an asset. A handson, frontline leader who fosters teamwork and empowerment in the workplace. A commitment to achieving highquality standards in line with YMCA Member Experience standards. Flexibility with scheduling, including a willingness to work mornings, nights, and weekends. Excellent understanding of diversity, inclusion and equity including the ability to identify and address barriers, work effectively with diverse stakeholders, and integrate equity into program design.
