Over the past decade, we have developed a pipe-line of crop-input technologies, with several products being sold commercially that are helping growers improve yields, maximize inputs, and tolerate abiotic stress factors such as heat, drought, and poor soil conditions. Our technologies are marketed under various brands across Canada, the U.S. and E.U. Key focus of our research program is to deepen the scientific understanding of how these technologies influence plant metabolism, gene regulation, and physiological performance. We are seeking a driven, high-capacity research scientist to join our team. There is potential to roll-over the contract into a permanent position depending on the success of the candidate during the contract and their fit with our long-term R&D strategy. Scientific Scope of the Position This role is ideal for a recent MSc or PhD graduate who wants responsibility, ownership, and the opportunity to help grow a company. You will work directly in our Alvinston research lab on the development and optimization of novel biostimulant and biocontrol solutions. You will work on the design and execution of specific research projects investigating how biostimulants interact with plants at the biochemical, molecular, and physiological levels. You will also contribute to the development of the R&D strategy, direction and priority. Core areas of focus include: Design and execution of in-vitro and in-vivo experiments on plants, soils, and plant pathogens. Transcriptomic analysis (RNA-seq) to evaluate gene regulatory responses. Metabolomic profiling to characterize pathway-level shifts. Advanced biochemical assays to quantify metabolic activity. Molecular characterization of formulation composition and structure. In-vitro and in-vivo plant response studies focused on biocontrol of pathogens. Robust statistical modeling of complex biological datasets. What Differentiates This Position from Other Opportunities As a member of the R&D team for a small, innovative and rapidly growing technology development company, your research will influence both scientific knowledge and commercial product development with opportunities to publish research results and contribute to patents and IP development. This is not a position requiring routine or repetitive lab work . Its independent science, with responsibility for hypotheses, workflow, and communication of results.
