Financial Operations Manager Good Merch Only, Inc. Location: Toronto, ON Reports to: Senior Leadership Type: Full-Time - Remote About Good Merch Only Good Merch Only (GMO) is a full-service merchandise company that designs, manufactures, and distributes merchandise for touring artists, creators, and brands. We handle everything from product design and sourcing to e-commerce operations, tour merch logistics, and international fulfillment. GMO is a sister company to Good People Only (artist management) and Stay Level Music Group (distribution), creating an integrated ecosystem across the music and creator economy. Our clients include touring artists across North America and internationally, with merchandise sold through Shopify storefronts, live event sales via atVenu, and third-party fulfillment through Seen Merch. We operate across CAD and USD with international payments through Wise and banking through Mercury and Float. About the Role Were looking for a Financial Operations Manager to own GMOs day-to-day financial operations. This is a hands-on role - youll be managing cash flow, reconciling accounts, processing payments, handling payroll, and building the financial infrastructure that allows GMO to scale. Youll work directly with ownership and the operations team to bring clarity, accuracy, and discipline to GMOs finances. This is not a bookkeeping role. We need someone who can think strategically about financial operations while executing tactically every day. Youll be the person who makes sure money moves correctly, reports are accurate, and the team has visibility into the financial health of the business. What Youll Do Financial Operations & Cash Flow Management Manage day-to-day financial operations across all GMO entities (Canada and US/Delaware) Monitor and manage cash flow across Mercury, Float, and Wise accounts Process vendor payments, artist settlements, and supplier invoices on schedule Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and payment platforms weekly Manage international transfers and currency conversion (CAD/USD/GBP/EUR) via Wise Track and reconcile atVenu tour merch settlements against artist accounts Ensure AP is settled on Thursdays per company policy (unless earlier payment is explicitly requested) Accounting & Reporting Maintain accurate books in QuickBooks Online (QBO) across GPO and GMO entities Prepare monthly financial reports for ownership (P&L, cash flow, balance sheet) Reconcile Shopify sales data against banking and fulfillment records Track cost of goods sold (COGS) across product lines, suppliers, and fulfillment channels Support year-end processes and work with external accountants/CPAs as needed Flag financial anomalies, overdue receivables, and cash flow risks proactively Payroll & HR Finance Manage payroll processing through Paycor (or equivalent) Track contractor payments, commission structures, and artist advances Ensure compliance with Canadian and US payroll requirements Maintain employee/contractor payment records and tax documentation Systems & Process Building Build and maintain financial SOPs for GMOs growing operations Improve workflows across payment processing, invoicing, and reconciliation Manage integrations between Shopify, QBO, atVenu, Mercury, Float, and Wise Create dashboards and reporting tools that give the team real-time visibility into financial health Implement controls and approval workflows for payments (2-person approval where required) Vendor & Supplier Finance Manage purchasing and payment relationships with suppliers (including Alibaba, domestic manufacturers) Track purchase orders, deposits, and final payments against production timelines Reconcile fulfillment invoices from Seen Merch Manage GMOs relationship with Float for vendor payment scheduling What Were Looking For Must Have: 3-5+ years of experience in financial operations, accounting, or finance management Strong proficiency in QuickBooks Online (QBO) Experience with multi-currency operations (CAD/USD minimum) Experience managing AP/AR, bank reconciliations, and cash flow Strong Excel/Google Sheets skills comfortable building models, trackers, and reports Detail-oriented with zero tolerance for errors in financial records Self-starter who can work independently and take ownership of outcomes Experience in a small-to-mid-size business environment where you wear multiple hats Nice to Have: Experience in e-commerce, merchandise, or music/entertainment industry Familiarity with Shopify, Wise, Mercury, Float, or atVenu CPA, CGA, CMA designation or equivalent Experience with US/Delaware entity financial management alongside Canadian operations Experience implementing financial controls and approval workflows Familiarity with Paycor or similar payroll platforms What We Offer Competitive salary (commensurate with experience) Hybrid work environment (Toronto-based) Direct access to ownership your work directly impacts company strategy Opportunity to build financial infrastructure from the ground up at a scaling company Work at the intersection of music, e-commerce, and creator economy
