Intermediate Architectural Technologist Spring 2026 Systemic Architecture is seeking two Intermediate Architectural Technologists for its growing team. Abstract Systemic offers big project experience in a small firm package.Our core project work is for private development companies, focusing on multi-family residential, resort, commercial and office projects.Mixed use projects make up a fair percentage of our portfolio, with some Tenant Improvement and Industrial work also in the mix.Construction values on our projects range from $500k to over $100 million CDN.We are headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, and have projects across the provinces of Alberta and British Columbia.Our firm differentiates itself from our competitors via the high quality of our drawings and the formal processes we use throughout all project phases.The tightly controlled execution of our projects is what keeps our clients returning for repeat work. The successful candidates will be responsible for participating in the Working Drawing phase on multiple projects simultaneously.Where appropriate, the Intermediate Technologist may also be the lead on certain projects provided the specific project is a proper fit in terms of complexity.This will involve direct preparation of drawings in both Revit and AutoCAD, as well as working with junior staff members in drawing creation.We have a compact, nimble team: working collaboratively with staff members, clients and consultants in a fast-paced environment will be a key to success in this role. Required Degree Diploma in Building Technology Compensation Compensation will be negotiated based on the experience of the successful candidate. Systemic team members receive an annual $1500 health spending account. Drafting Programs and Technical Requirements Autodesk Revit 2026: expert usership required. AutoCAD Architecture 2026: proficient usership required. Microsoft Suite: competency in Work and Excel required. Fluency in rendering programs such as Twinmotion, Unreal Engine and Enscape is an asset, but not necessarily required. Responsibilities Execution of drawings within the production phase under the direct or nominal supervision of Architect, or Senior Direct Supervisor. Secondary responsibility for coordination of all consultants, including S/M/E/C Engineers. Documentation within the production stage in the form of meeting agendas and meeting summaries. Secondary responsibility for documentation in the form of meeting agendas, meeting summaries, and all written instruments required during the contract administration phase (RFI/CR/CO/SI, Application for Payment) Secondary responsibility for execution of drawings within the design phase under the direct supervision of Architect or Senior Direct Supervisor.Self-directed work may be assigned at the discretion of the Architect or Senior Direct Supervisor, in which case the responsibility for its completion rests with the Architectural Technologist. Key Performance Indicators Once hired, the successful candidates will be evaluated on an annual basis using the following criteria. Completeness and Profitability of Individual Projects: Efficient use of resources allocated by Senior Direct Supervisor. Assistance in documentation of project progress in real time (accurate logging of hours, resources). Adherence to agreed upon hours allocated for projects and their individual phases. Progressing of project to agreed-upon state of completion at specified milestones, including project closeout. Drawing Documentation Abilities Execution of practical and buildable technical solutions. Succinctness of drawing packages and streamlining of drawings to strictly the information required by the designated construction contract method. Fidelity of production drawings to original design intent. Written Documentation & Communication Succinctness and accuracy of meeting summaries, and all written instruments required as part of the WD and CA phases Effective written and verbal communication with client on behalf of the firm. Effective written and verbal communication with the Approving Authority, ability to represent project applications on behalf of the client, under direction of the Partner, Architect or Senior Designer. Effective written and verbal communication with Consultant Group, under direction of the Partner, Architect, or Senior Designer Work Model Systemic offers a hybrid work model where appropriate, but please note that 80% of our staff time is spent working in-office at our Kensington Road location in Calgary, Alberta. Hiring Process Systemic utilizes a two or three-stage interview process for all candidates, as follows: Initial Interview: Preliminary intake assessment of overall fit and alignment. Second Interview: Assessment of technical capabilities within the drafting programs noted above. This interview may include a formal test of abilities via drafting in Revit, or hand drawing conceptual working drawing concepts. Third Interview: Final assessment by partners of the firm. Note that these stages may be combined at Systemics discretion, but will not be less than two interviews.
