About the Job We are seeking Professional Geologists or Geologists-in-Training for an exciting opportunity for a FIFO position within a multi-disciplinary team environment. The role will include but not be limited to: (1) GeoHazard identification (Devonian) (2) field observations within mining operations which will affect construction and mining plans (3) supporting the geotechnical team in geological evaluation and construction against predicted mine plans and (4) bringing forward mine optimizations based upon in-pit observations. This position will be a full-time fly-in, fly-out camp-based role to the Fort Hills site with a 7 days on / 7 days off work schedule. This role requires a minimum 3 to 5 years of professional experience , with preference given to those with actual oilsands mining experience. We are seeking a candidate that can start in this role for late Q1-2026 or early Q2-2026. RESPONSIBILITIES Providing expert geologic input to the mine geotechnical engineering, mine planning; construction; extraction, and water handling groups in support of mine operations; construction and tailings management within the integrated mine plan Monitoring and documentation of geological hazards for internal reporting and regulatory requirements Data acquisition supporting mine plans and construction Providing field observations and collaborating with the Calgary-based technical team The operating skill profile will include expertise / competency in the following areas: i) Full awareness and adherence to mine site safety and business protocols ii) Geological understanding of the McMurray Formation and contributing factors to geohazards and overall impacts on mine operations iii) Geological model review based upon observations iv) Regulatory reporting and compliance v) In-pit data acquisition techniques The Ideal Candidate will have the following skills / interests: Experience in oil sands mining operations Experience in core description, facies mapping and depositional modeling in fluvial-estuarine depositional systems Experience with sequence stratigraphic concepts within the McMurray Formation Familiarity with geotechnical/hydrogeology aspects of mine planning Familiarity with geological modeling QUALIFICATIONS Bachelors Degree in Geology or Earth Science Registration with APEGA as a P.Geo. or as Geologist-in-Training ( G.I.T. ) Experience with oilsands mining is an asset, especially oilsands exploration and geology Available to work a regular schedule 7 days on / 7 days off, Fly-In / Fly-Out (FIFO) to Fort McMurray, AB Must be physically fit to perform daily tasks Successful completion of background reference checks, as well as verification of education, credentials, and legal ability to work in Canada ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FIFO - 7/7 - 12 hr shifts Beryl Mining Services is an equal opportunity employer and is proud to encourage and support diversity and inclusion in the mining industry.
