What youll do Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the Senior HR Generalist will be responsible for delivering a comprehensive, hands-on human resources function. Working closely with leadership and frontline teams, the position will support the full employee lifecycle and will serve as the primary point of contact for day-to-day HR matters. The Senior Generalist will play a key role in reinforcing safety, compliance, and a strong, team-oriented workplace culture. Key responsibilities include, but will not be limited to: Deliver hands-on HR support across the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment and attraction, onboarding and orientation, compensation and benefits, learning and development, employee engagement and relations, and separation and offboarding. Lead full-cycle recruitment for field and office roles, including job postings, screenings, interviews, background checks, and offers. Coordinate onboarding, orientation, and training activities, including safety and compliance training, certifications, and equipment readiness. Administer compensation and benefits programs, support benefits-related employee inquiries, and assist with benchmarking and vendor coordination. Maintain accurate employee records and documentation, including certifications, training records and HR files, using the HRIS and related systems. Develop and maintain comprehensive, up-to-date and accurate job descriptions. Act as the primary administrator for the organizations HRIS, ensuring data accuracy, effective system use, reporting, and day-to-day support for employees and leaders. Support employee engagement, internal communications, recognition initiatives, and day-to-day employee relations, including conflict resolution. Maintain and update HR policies and procedures; monitor legislative requirements and support consistent application across the organization. Administer Workers Compensation claims, support return-to-work processes, and coordinate health and safety documentation, training, and reporting. Support HR-related special projects and initiatives in collaboration with external HR consultants and advisors, as required. Perform other HR-related duties, as required to support effective HR operations. What youll bring Post-secondary education in Business Administration (or a related field), with a major or certificate in Human Resources, or similar; an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Professional Human Resources Designation (e.g., CPHR) is considered an asset. 3-5 years progressive HR generalist experience, preferably in trades, manufacturing, construction, or operational environments. Demonstrated experience supporting the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, compensation and benefits administration, learning and development coordination, performance management, employee relations, and offboarding. Practical experience working in regulated environments, including employment standards, occupational health and safety, workers compensation, and return-to-work processes. Strong working knowledge of Nova Scotia employment legislation and familiarity with workforce practices common to trades or operational settings (e.g., apprenticeships, certifications, safety training, wage progression). Experience using HRIS platforms to maintain employee records, support reporting, and ensure data accuracy. Highly organized and able to manage competing priorities independently in a fast-paced environment. Clear, practical communicator who can build trust with frontline employees, supervisors, and leaders and adapt their approach to field-based environments.
