Business Analyst Reports to: General Manager Location: Community Futures Boundary (CFB) office, on-site Employment Type: Full-time (35 hrs/wk) Salary: $55,000 $70,000 Other compensation: Extended Health Benefits, RRSP contributions Position Summary The Business Analyst (BA) plays a critical role in advancing Community Futures Boundarys (CFB) lending and business advisory mandate. The position is responsible for oversight and operations of the CFB lending and business advisory portfolio.This includes working with loan clients, promoting the loans program and working with potential clients, operational compliance, and reporting. Key Responsibilities 1.Lending & Portfolio Management Assess, structure, and recommend loan applications, including micro-loans, regular loans, participations, and syndicated loans. Conduct detailed financial analysis, cash-flow projections, stress testing, and risk assessments. Prepare comprehensive loan recommendations for the General Manager, and Loans Committees consideration. Monitor loan portfolio performance and recommend remedial actions. Manage restructures, early payouts, write-offs, and portfolio clean-up. Liaise with legal counsel, accountants, and financial institutions. Manage strategic portfolio growth in keeping with strategic goals and funder requirements. 2.Partnership, Program & Contract Management Support implementation of new loan programs and co-lending structures. Ensure compliance with contribution agreements and performance standards. 3.Business Advisory & Client Development Provide in-depth advisory support to entrepreneurs and small businesses. Guide clients through business planning, financial readiness, and loan applications. Refer clients to appropriate programs and external supports. Support business transitions, expansion, recovery, and succession. Build strong relationships with business community and other community partners. 4.Reporting, Governance & Risk Support Prepare lending reports for the Board and funders. Provide reporting as required to General Manager and Loans Committee. Contribute to operational planning and strategic initiatives. Support audits, policy updates, and risk-management activities. Ensure accurate and timely reporting. 5.Operational, Systems & Compliance Oversight Review and authorize lending system entries and repayments. Support loan accounting system maintenance and enhancements. Monitor credit bureau reporting. 6.Additional Operational Responsibilities Assist with the preparation of annual audited financial statements for Community Futures Boundary, with specific responsibility for loan portfolio reporting, confirmations, schedules, and audit inquiries. Attend Board of Directors meetings and the Annual General Meeting, as required, to present reports, respond to inquiries, and provide technical expertise in support of governance, audit, and risk oversight. Act as a signing officer for Community Futures Boundary (CFB), in accordance with Board-approved signing authorities and policies. Qualifications & Experience Minimum 3 years experience as an entrepreneur (self-employed) OR/AND Minimum 3 years experience in commercial lending Experience working with partners, clients, and community members Demonstrated ability to use metrics for analysis and decision making Proven ability to drive program growth through marketing and engagement Comfortable presenting information to board, committees or select groups as needed Demonstrated program or business management experience, including goal setting, performance metrics, and strategic operational management Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning. Experience working in rural areas/communities is considered an asset. Strong understanding of small business finance and risk assessment is considered an asset. Experience with government-funded programs is considered an asset. Degree or diploma in business, finance or accounting, or equivalent experience in business management. Drivers license and available vehicle for local travel, as needed. Ability to read and understand legal contract terms and conditions. Knowledge of risk management principles and the ability to identify, assess, and mitigate financial risks. Strategic thinking and the ability to align financial goals with organizational objectives Familiarity with relevant financial laws, regulations, ensuring adherence to legal and regulatory guidelines. Business acumen and understanding of trends and business operations to provide financial insights and contribute to overall business decision-making.
