The Position Our downtown Edmonton client is seeking a Senior AML Analyst for a 612 month contract, with potential to transition to a permanent opportunity. Reporting to the AML Compliance Officer (AMLCO), this role will support the organization in meeting regulatory requirements related to KYC periodic reviews, sanctions and PEP screening, fraudrelated AML assessments, and FINTRAC reporting. Utilizing the Verafin platform and approved provincial and national data sources, the Senior AML Analyst ensures client identification information remains accurate, complete, and current, and that client risk ratings align with PCMLTFA and FINTRAC guidance. This role plays a key part in maintaining compliance integrity and supporting ongoing AML initiatives within the organization. What You'll Do Execute riskbased periodic client reviews and manage assigned review queues to ensure timely completion of documentation. Update client risk ratings and record rationale in accordance with internal AML policies. Identify information gaps, inconsistencies, or anomalies and elevate findings to the AMLCO where required. Review sanctions and politically exposed person (PEP) alerts generated through periodic KYC refresh cycles. Assess potential matches against OSFI and the Consolidated Canadian Autonomous Sanctions List, documenting outcomes per internal procedures. Verify client identity, address, occupation, and beneficial ownership using approved data sources, coordinating with Regional Offices as needed. Prepare FINTRAC regulatory reports including STRs, LCTRs, and EFTRs, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and supporting documentation. Review rejected clearing items and chequerelated activity to identify potential money laundering or fraud indicators, escalating as appropriate. Maintain organized and auditready documentation for all AML and KYC review activities. Support internal and external audits, AML testing, and participate in peer review or QA checks of KYC files. Assist with adhoc AML compliance initiatives, regulatory requests, and internal projects. Stay informed on FINTRAC regulatory updates, expectations, and internal policy changes impacting AML and KYC requirements. Mandatories 23 years of AML/KYC compliance experience within a Canadian federally or provincially regulated financial institution. Handson experience with AML monitoring platforms (Verafin strongly preferred). Experience conducting provincial corporate registry searches and utilizing credit bureau tools (Equifax, TransUnion). Working knowledge of PCMLTFA, FINTRAC guidance, and KYC/CDD requirements. Familiarity with sanctions screening and PEP identification processes. Strong analytical abilities and excellent attention to detail. Effective communication skills for collaboration with Regional Offices and internal stakeholders. Ability to manage multiple review cycles and meet required deadlines. CAMS certification is an asset but not required for this role.
