Position Summary Universal Matter Inc. (UMI) is seeking a technically proficient Supply Chain Manager to architect and lead an integrated end-to-end supply chain function supporting the commercialization and scale-up of Genable graphene-based products. This role operates within a specialty chemicals and advanced materials environment characterized by batch processing, toll manufacturing, controlled raw material inputs, hazardous materials handling, and stringent quality requirements. The successful candidate will establish a formal Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process; lead order capture and fulfillment; manage strategic procurement of critical raw materials; oversee third-party toll manufacturers; and build a disciplined logistics management framework that meets customer service requirements while controlling total delivered cost. The role requires strong understanding of chemical manufacturing supply chain dynamics, production yield management, and regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) Leadership Design and implement a structured S&OP process aligned with batch manufacturing and commercialization scale-up. Integrate demand forecasting, production planning, raw material requirements planning (MRP), and capacity modeling. Lead monthly demand, supply, and executive S&OP reviews with Commercial, Operations, Finance, and Executive teams. Establish KPIs including forecast accuracy, OTIF, inventory turns, working capital performance, yield variance, and capacity utilization. Develop scenario planning models for supply risk, toll capacity constraints, and demand volatility. Order Capture & Fulfillment Lead order-to-cash execution including order entry, allocation, production coordination, shipment scheduling, and delivery performance. Ensure alignment between production schedules, quality release timelines, and customer delivery commitments. Develop customer service level agreements (SLAs) and performance metrics aligned with OTIF targets. Implement controls to ensure batch traceability, documentation accuracy, and regulatory compliance. Logistics & Distribution Management Develop and execute logistics strategy for inbound raw materials and outbound finished goods across North America and international markets. Manage carrier selection, freight procurement, and rate negotiations to optimize total landed cost. Oversee transportation modes (bulk, packaged goods, LTL/FTL, intermodal, ocean/air as required) consistent with product characteristics and service requirements. Ensure compliance with hazardous materials (TDG, DOT, IATA, IMDG as applicable) and customs/import-export regulations. Establish freight cost tracking, analytics, and reporting to manage budget adherence and identify cost reduction opportunities. Implement performance scorecards for 3PLs and carriers, including OTIF delivery, damage rate, claims management, and cost per shipment. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce lead times, improve service reliability, and minimize expedited freight exposure. Procurement & Raw Material Management Develop sourcing strategies for critical chemical and process inputs, including dual sourcing and risk mitigation frameworks. Negotiate supply agreements focused on cost control, reliability, quality assurance, and continuity of supply. Implement supplier performance scorecards including OTIF, quality deviation rate, and responsiveness. Monitor commodity trends and supply market dynamics relevant to specialty chemicals and advanced materials. Third-Party Toll Manufacturing Oversight Manage a network of third-party toll manufacturers producing Genable products under contract manufacturing agreements. Coordinate production planning, batch scheduling, and inventory positioning across multiple sites. Establish operational KPIs including batch yield, throughput, cycle time, and cost per unit. Ensure adherence to quality specifications, regulatory compliance, and contractual obligations. Develop contingency planning and capacity expansion strategies to support growth. Operations Integration & Asset Optimization Collaborate with Operations leadership to optimize plant scheduling and asset utilization. Align production plans with maintenance schedules, process constraints, and batch cycle times. Support long-term capacity planning and capital investment decisions. Drive continuous improvement initiatives targeting throughput, cost efficiency, and service reliability. Qualifications & Experience Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, or related discipline. 812+ years of experience in chemical manufacturing, specialty materials, or advanced industrial environments. Demonstrated experience implementing S&OP within a batch or process manufacturing environment. Direct experience managing chemical logistics, hazardous materials transportation, and freight cost optimization. Experience managing toll manufacturers or contract chemical production partners. Strong understanding of MRP/ERP systems and production planning tools. Working knowledge of hazardous materials regulations and quality management systems.
