Network Rail Consulting (NRC) is the international consultancy arm of Network Rail, the owner and operator of Britains railway. Following our continued growth in Canada, NRC is seeking expressions of interest from senior rail and railroad professionals to join our Toronto-based team as part of a long-term talent pool. This opportunity is suited to experienced leaders who combine strong technical or operational credentials with the ability to build trusted client relationships, lead teams, and shape the delivery of complex rail and railroad programs across North America. You will play a key role in leading advisory and delivery engagements across passenger rail, commuter rail, light rail, metro, and freight railroad environments. Our work spans the full project lifecycle, from strategic advisory and feasibility through design development, delivery support, assurance, and operational readiness. Through our work in Canada and North America, we support public and private sector clients to improve performance, accelerate transformation, and successfully deliver major rail and railroad infrastructure and operational programs. What we offer: We offer a competitive and flexible employee experience in Canada, including: Competitive, market-aligned salaries Generous vacation entitlement, with flexibility to buy or sell leave Enhanced parental leave support, in addition to statutory Canadian entitlements Comprehensive employer-paid benefits, including medical, dental, and vision coverage Life insurance and long-term disability cover Flexible working arrangements to support worklife balance Clear career development pathways across our international consultancy Learning, professional development, and employee recognition programs Key Accountabilities: As an Associate Director, you will typically be accountable for: Leading client engagements and acting as a trusted senior advisor to clients and key stakeholders Taking overall responsibility for the successful delivery of projects or portfolios, including commercial performance and risk management Shaping project scope, approach, and governance to meet client objectives and NRC standards Building and maintaining long-term client relationships and identifying opportunities for repeat and follow-on work Providing strategic leadership and technical oversight across multidisciplinary teams Contributing to business development, including bid leadership, pricing, and proposal strategy Line managing, coaching, and developing consultants and managing consultants Supporting the growth of NRC Canada through thought leadership, capability development, and market engagement Championing NRCs values, safety culture, and professional reputation internally and externally Areas of expertise: We are interested in professionals with experience across a range of rail and railroad disciplines, including: Asset Management and Maintenance Rail Systems Engineering Traction Power Civil Engineering E&P Stations and Facilities Signalling Systems Integration, Safety, and Assurance Program, Project, and Construction Management What we look for: Extensive experience in the rail or railroad sector, gained within a consultancy, railway, transit authority, or major contractor environment A strong track record of leading multidisciplinary teams on complex, safety-critical infrastructure programs Proven ability to engage with senior client stakeholders and decision-makers Experience managing project or portfolio budgets, schedules, and commercial performance Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including client-facing reporting and presentations Equal Opportunity Employer NRC is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
