The Opportunity: Our client is seeking an experienced Design Lead Mechanical to play a key leadership role within their design and drafting team. This position blends strong technical design expertise with project and team leadership responsibilities. The Design Lead will oversee mechanical design and drafting activities across multiple projects while mentoring designers, coordinating resources, and ensuring high-quality deliverables. Working closely with engineering and project management teams, this role will help drive efficient project execution, maintain design standards, and contribute to continuous improvement within the design department. What Youll Be Doing: Lead mechanical design and drafting efforts across multiple energy and industrial projects. Oversee design deliverables to ensure quality, accuracy, and alignment with company standards. Coordinate project schedules and deliverables with project managers and multidisciplinary teams. Facilitate model reviews, design reviews, and regular coordination meetings with design teams. Provide technical guidance and expertise to resolve complex design issues. Mentor and support designers and drafters, helping develop their technical capabilities and best practices. Assist leadership with resourcing strategies, hiring support, and allocation of design resources across projects. Identify opportunities to improve design processes, workflows, and standards. Support the development and maintenance of internal specifications, standards, and design practices. Contribute to innovation initiatives and continuous improvement within the design group. What Youll Need to Be Successful: 10+ years of design and drafting experience, preferably within energy, oil & gas, or industrial project environments. Diploma, degree, or technical certification in design, engineering technology, or a related discipline. Strong proficiency with AutoCAD, CADWorx Plant , and Microsoft Office. Demonstrated experience leading design projects or mentoring junior designers and drafters. Strong understanding of multidisciplinary engineering project workflows and design coordination. Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high quality standards and meeting project deadlines. Compensation Range: $120,000 $140,000
