Status: Permanent Work Mode: Hybrid Schedule: 40 hours per week (flexible), possibility of overtime Salary: $110K to $120K annually Location: Edmonton This is a technical and strategic position intended for an experienced professional. Our client, a large national organization operating in a highly unionized environment, is seeking a Labour Relations Expert specializing in grievance management and arbitration. This role serves as a central pivot between HR teams, operations, and the internal legal department in a high-impact organizational context. Responsibilities Grievance Management and Arbitration - Manage a high volume of grievance files from initiation through resolution or arbitration. - Build cases from A to Z: fact analysis, evidence gathering, witness preparation, legal research, and development of arguments. - Present and defend the employers position before arbitrators and, when required, before quasijudicial bodies (e.g., federal administrative tribunals, commissions). - Ensure thorough follow-up on decisions, recommendations, and postarbitration measures. Union Relations and Dispute Prevention - Interact regularly with experienced union representatives. - Lead discussions proactively to promote negotiated settlements. - Advise HR teams and managers on the interpretation and application of collective agreements. - Participate in the strategic analysis of cases with relevant stakeholders. Internal Collaboration - Work closely with HR, operations, legal affairs, and senior leadership. - Contribute to the harmonization of practices and knowledge sharing within the Labour Relations team. - Support strategic thinking related to labour relations and risk management. Requirements - Bachelors degree in Industrial Relations or Human Resources. - 5 to 7 years of relevant labour relations experience, ideally in a unionized environment. - Demonstrated experience preparing and presenting arbitration cases. - Strong knowledge of collective agreements, the Canada Labour Code, and related case law. - Bilingualism (French/English) required, both spoken and written. - Ability to work under pressure with rigor and composure. Assets - CRIA and/or CRHA designation. - Experience in collective bargaining or mediation. - Confidence and strong presence in hearings. Do you match this profile?
