The Pod Group is partnering with this organization to place a compassionate, client-focused and handson individual to fulfill the role of a Youth Support Supervisor. WHY YOUR ROLE MATTERS The Youth Support Supervisor is a key leadership role that is focused on supporting the most marginalized and vulnerable youth across the Region of Peel. The successful incumbent will lead the day-today operations at the shelter with a focus on clientcentered and traumainformed care. As part of the leadership team, the Youth Support Supervisor will provide leadership and supervision to frontline youth workers, volunteers and students. HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT - Build, lead and engage frontline staff by providing support and supervision in line with growth and development. - Facilitates regular staff meetings to review program deliverables for quality and continuous improvement. - Promoting a healthy and safe environment, while maintaining process, procedure and policies. - Assists with recruiting and hiring and performance management of new employees. - Oversees monthly scheduling, reviews timesheets prior to submission and coordinates vacation requests. - Facilitates training for new employees - Provides oncall support, which includes problem solving, consultation, guidance and feedback to frontline employees through crisis management and challenging events. - Foster a positive and supportive working environment. - Responsible for the day to day shift organization of the shelter, including supporting with care management and overall programming for the youth. - Participates in the delivery of shift change - Ensures the confidentiality of personnel, client and administrative files. - Compile statistical information and prepare monthly reports. Qualifications - Degree in Social Services or related field - 3-4 years experience along with 1-year supervisory experience working within the social service sector, preferably in a shelter/residential setting or equivalent combination of education and/or experience - Knowledge of homelessness, mental health and addictions - Knowledge of housing first for youth, trauma-informed care, and harm reduction practices - A leader with excellent communication, presentation, organization and interpersonal skills with a passion for supporting the most vulnerable and marginalized youth in our community - Flexibility to work in a 24-hour, 7 days a week operation, while supporting an oncall rotation. - Knowledge of resources and supports for youth and exposure to Region of Peel resources. - Experience addressing the needs of homeless clients, including making referrals to community agencies - Cultural competency sensitivity and commitment to working through an EDIB, anti-oppressive, anti-racism framework - Strong ability to work independently with demonstrated decision making skills - Experience in data base management, - A valid Ontario Drivers License, access to a vehicle and $2,000,000 (minimum) liability car insurance coverage is mandatory - Valid CPI/ UMAB and First Aid/ CPR certifications - Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Check. - Must be flexible to work at Brampton and/or Mississauga location - Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, subject to applicable legislation OUR COMMITMENT TO EDIB The success of an organization stems from a team that is aligned with its mission and vision, where decisions are made in the best interests of the clients they serve and the marginalized and vulnerable populations across our communities.
