This role is responsible for independently supporting small to medium sized construction projects with supervision and acts in supporting role for some aspects of larger and more complex projects. This position makes some decisions independently related to projects and generally works with moderate level supervision. The Junior Engineer will seek guidance on decisions for larger jobs from more senior members of the Engineering team. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES Function-Specific Responsibilities - Provides engineering support/input to estimating and the drafting department. - Prepares calculations of different construction components including aluminum, glass, metal panels, steel framing and connection design. - Ensures compliance with Canadian and US building codes and industrial standards. - Conducts site reviews/inspections of work in progress to ensure compliance with engineered shop drawings/specifications and prepares reports. - Conducts building envelope thermal/condensation analysis. - Liaises with other department and clients to ensure projects are completed - Makes independent decisions related to small and medium sized projects - Assists more senior engineers in carrying out projects including technical tasks, calculations, testing, analysis, and design . QUALIFICATIONS Education - Bachelors degree in structural/civil engineering. Experience - 1 to 3 years of experience in faade engineering - Experience with structural/thermal analysis software, Microsoft and AutoCAD, THERM. - Experience in managing multi projects and delivering on time Skills - Leadership/strong interpersonal skills to work in and across departments. - Strong problem solving and decision-making skills. - Knowledge of structural analysis software, Microsoft and AutoCAD . - Strong organizational skills and strong attention to detail. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills. - Self-started and a team player. - Flexibility to travel locally and nationally.
