Key Responsibilities As the Staff Accountant , you will play a key role in supporting daily accounting operations, ensuring accuracy in financial transactions, and contributing to efficient and reliable financial reporting. Your responsibilities will include: Transaction Processing & Accounts Management: Process supplier invoices, ensuring timely and accurate payments in accordance with vendor terms while proactively resolving discrepancies. Manage customer invoicing, investigate billing inquiries, and follow up on outstanding balances to support healthy cash flow. Banking & Cash Management: Handle daily banking transactions including deposits, EFTs, wires, credit card processing, and related reconciliations. Perform regular bank and credit card reconciliations to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial records. General Accounting & Month-End Support: Prepare journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations to support accurate month-end close processes. Maintain fixed asset records, monitor account balances, and ensure financial data integrity in accordance with ASPE standards. Prepare government filings and regulatory submissions, ensuring compliance with CRA and applicable reporting deadlines. Generate financial reports, overhead cost analysis, and management insights to support informed business decisions. Process Improvement & Operational Support: Support system enhancements, accounting workflow improvements, and banking transitions to increase efficiency and accuracy. Collaborate with leadership, external accountants, and financial institutions to support audits, reporting, and strategic initiatives. Qualifications To succeed in this role, candidates should demonstrate the following: Education & Experience: Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred. Experience with full cycle accounting is required; previous experience with fixed assets is preferred. 5-7 years of experience in full-cycle accounting with a strong understanding of ASPE and Canadian accounting practices. Technical Skills: Proficiency with QuickBooks Online or similar accounting systems is strongly preferred. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, PivotTables, and data analysis capabilities. Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and time-management skills. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment. Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, and professional communication skills. High level of integrity and discretion when handling sensitive financial information. A proactive mindset with a desire to improve processes and contribute to organizational success.
