ERCO Worldwide is looking for a Chemical Engineering Student to join our Safety, Environmental and Technical team! The student will work closely with the Safety, Environmental, and Technical Manager, as well as the Process/Technical Specialist to perform similar tasks as a Process/Technical Specialist, with focus on organization. The purpose of this position for ERCO has several elements: (1) fostering a positive relationship with the local university, (2) development of a pipeline of potential future employees, and (3) opportunities for plant engineers to develop skills in mentoring. The Role: Safety, Health and Environmental Compliance Demonstrates personal leadership in plant safety and environmental initiatives Ensures project compliance with construction, engineering, safety and environmental codes and regulations Supports PHA action item resolution Document retention and organization of key documents Takes part in Safety/Process related incident investigations. Work in a safety conscious team-oriented environment. Project / Process Engineering Takes part in plans and implementation of Process Improvement Projects Supports use of Management of Change system for plant modifications. Specifies equipment and materials for plant processes to ensure plant reliability Knowledge of process improvements and process analysis to root cause Supports plant operations and maintenance in troubleshooting complex or repetitive problems to closure Lab familiarity with testing, inventory checks, and organization Aid operators in lab testing as required. Maintains equipment files and updating the corresponding electronic files Process and instrumentation diagram (PID) updates and field labelling Evaluates alternatives for cost, process and operations improvements Maintains process safety and technology documentation related to Process design, process changes, and/or process improvements Project Management (all aspects of small projects) Communication Communicates with other plant work groups, suppliers and contractors to obtain best practices and experience input to process improvements or project scopes Develops and delivers training to plant employees on process improvements/modifications. Functions as a team player with all open activities. Work independent and as part of a team to complete assigned engineering projects. The Person: Currently enrolled in a post-secondary engineering program with a minimum completion of 1 st year. Familiar with WHMIS and laboratory safety practices. Industrial work experience would be an asset.
