More information is available at Position Summary As an Abrasive Blaster on the Corrosion Team , you play a key role in ensuring the longevity and durability of New Flyer buses. You will be responsible for sandblasting, washing, and prepping the bus frame to meet strict quality and safety standards. This position requires precision, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to workplace safety while working with high-pressure air lines, confined spaces, and abrasive materials. Benefits Competitive wages and a comprehensive benefits package A continuous learning environment Ability to advance your career with a growing company NFI Group was named a Manitoba Top Employer for 2020 and this is the tenth time since the competition was established in 2007 Employee social committee organizes numerous events throughout the year, including summer barbecues, holiday festivities, sporting events and tournaments, and much more Ongoing employee development through a variety of in-house training initiatives along with tuition subsidies for courses at outside institutions Responsibilities Surface Preparation: Follow blueprints and process sheets to properly prepare bus frames for blasting and coating applications Abrasive Blasting & Cleaning: Remove contaminants, rust, and old coatings using sandblasting techniques and high-pressure air lines to create a clean, uniform surface Coating Application Support: Work closely with the painting and finishing team to ensure surfaces are prepped correctly for optimal adhesion and coating performance Equipment & Maintenance: Operate and maintain blasting equipment, ensuring safe and efficient functionality while monitoring wear on abrasive materials Safety & Compliance: Adhere to strict workplace safety procedures, especially when working at heights, in confined spaces, and with high-pressure equipment Qualifications Understanding of surface preparation and abrasive blasting techniquesexperience in industrial blasting, painting, or surface treatment is preferred Ability to read and interpret blueprints, process sheets, and technical instructions to ensure precision and quality Attention to detail when assessing pre-blasted surfaces for defects and readiness for the next phase Physical stamina and safety awarenesscomfortable working in a physically demanding environment and following all PPE, ventilation, and equipment safety protocols Effective teamwork and independent work abilitycollaborate in a team-oriented environment while taking initiative to complete tasks with minimal supervision Our Why We exist to move people.
