Our salary range for this role is $87,000 - $117,000, reflecting the anticipated base salary for a fully qualified candidate at the time of posting. Actual pay will be determined based on skills, experience, internal equity, and market conditions. Employee and Family Assistance Program Position Summary The HSE Manager is responsible for fostering a Zero & Beyond safety culture by leading the development and implementation of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) initiatives in collaboration with facility management. The primary goal is to ensure regulatory compliance while supporting the companys strategic objectives. In this role, the HSE Manager works closely with the Director of Health, Safety, and Environment, developing corporate safety and health programs and objectives, including coordinating safety training programs, developing risk reduction plans to reduce workplace injuries, driving a behaviourbased safety culture, and providing technical support to ensure compliance with all regulations. Success depends on strong collaboration with corporate functions, facility management, and external organisations. Responsibilities HSE Compliance & Risk Management Develop, implement, and maintain facility policies and procedures to ensure compliance with HSE management systems and regulatory requirements. Provide technical support and handson expertise in HSE matters to operations. Participate in new product/process reviews, including process hazard analyses, operator training, job safety analysis, etc. Interpret regulatory requirements and prepare technical reports of findings. Ensure continuous compliance with environmental regulations, permits, and reporting requirements. Align with behaviourbased safety programs to reinforce a Zero & Beyond safety culture. ISO Certifications & Safety Leadership Lead and maintain ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certifications at the site. Oversee and lead the joint health and safety committee onsite, ensuring adherence to company safety procedures through coaching, training, and followups. Manage incident reporting processes, ensure thorough investigations, corrective actions, and best practice sharing across the company. Audits, Training & Team Engagement Conduct and support internal and external HSE audits, and coordinate with regulatory agencies during inspections. Assess and identify HSE training needs, oversee training programs, and ensure employees are equipped with uptodate safety knowledge. Collaborate with management and participate in Kaizen/Gemba events, HSE team meetings, and other key corporate safety initiatives. Reporting & Continuous Improvement Accurately track and report all HSE Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and company data requests. Support the continuous improvement of safety processes, corporate safety mandates, and regulatory compliance programs. Participate in additional HSE initiatives as assigned by the HSE Director. Knowledge and skill requirements Strong understanding of Federal and Provincial health & safety regulations. Monitor regulatory changes as they occur. Familiarity and experience with ISO 14001 and ISO 4501 management systems. Strong knowledge of Ontario workers compensation regulations. Excellent problemsolving, organisational, and analytical skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and other relevant software. Strong knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, NIOSH, CSA, CEC, and CEPA regulations. Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) to engage all levels of the organisation. Language: Fluency in English is required. Education: Bachelors degree required (Occupational safety, Environmental Studies, Engineering, or a related field preferred). Experience: Minimum 5 years of HSE experience in a manufacturing environment, with expertise in: Government compliance and Occupational Health & Safety regulations Process risk assessment and analysis Root cause investigation and incident management Development of safety standards and procedures ISO audits and training programs Other Skills / Abilities Lead, supervise, manage, and develop individuals and highperformance teams.
