Were seeking a dynamic leader to take charge of a critical asset within one of Albertas Top 80 and Canadas Top 100 employers. The Shell Scotford Refinery Production team is seeking a Production Team Lead Chemicals & Distribution for our Chemicals Asset. The Shell Scotford Complex consists of a bitumen upgrader, oil refinery, chemicals plant and the Quest Carbon Capture and Storage facility. It is one of North Americas most efficient, modern, and integrated hydrocarbon processing sites. The Production Team Lead Chemicals & Distribution is a frontline leader in production, supervising teams of up to 15 frontline workers in a unionised environment. Their primary objective is to support work execution with a focus on safety of the assets and the people working within the assets. The Production Team Lead and Central Services Shift Lead work closely together as the onshift leadership team to deliver the overall site production plan, delivering the asset shift plan through their team and working closely with their designated hourly production team members. Accountabilities Drive plan delivery through production planning, scheduling & overtime management, Daily Operating Instructions (DOI) execution, and maintenance schedule compliance Lead team development by managing progression planning, recognition initiatives, performance & attendance management, and succession planning Uphold assurance by ensuring permittowork adherence, safe work practice (SWP) compliance, process safety fundamentals (PSF) compliance, safe production (ESP) requirements, and alignment with Shells Code of Conduct and Respectful Workplace (RWP) policies Identify the need for critical task analysis (CTA) and initiate requests for CTA development Ensure competent personnel are assigned to work tasks, 100% compliance to HSE training Manage team development using individual development plans (IDPs), job competency profiles (JCPs) and creating gapclosure plans Manage performance of the work team by utilizing goals and performance frameworks and developing people through coaching and mentoring to achieve development targets Ensure team adherence to incident reporting policy, and inform and liaise with the Central Services Lead during incidents Foster continuous improvement initiatives and simplify work processes to achieve objectives in safety, compliance, throughput, yield and energy usage, both onshift and in production units Serve as the Operating Area Team Lead during emergencies, providing critical operations support to the Incident Commander to drive incident recovery and prevent escalation Ensure emergency response (ER) and Red Tag drills are executed as scheduled, and ensure the assigned emergency response team (ERT) complement is rostered Perform duties as a reserve worker What You Bring Must have legal authorisation to work in Canada on a fulltime basis for anyone other than current employer Must have a 4thclass Power Engineering Certificate At least 10 years operational experience in a refining, upgrading or chemicals facility Minimum of 3 years of leadership and supervisory experience, preferably in a unionised environment Knowledge of emergency response protocols Understanding of production policies and procedures Proficient with programs such as Word, PowerPoint and Excel Ability to deliver training and facilitate meetings If you dont see yourself fully reflected in every job requirement listed above, we still encourage you to reach out and apply.
