We are currently hiring Casual/On-Call Cafe Associates To be on the Museums on-call roster to cover for vacation, illness and staff vacancies. One week of paid training is provided at time of hire. About You: You are a Cafe Service Whiz who is passionate about working at one of the best attractions the Sea-to-Sky Corridor has to offer! You have a real passion for growing within the travel, tourism and cultural services (museum) hospitality/food service sector. You have (at minimum) a high school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education in food services, tourism, or hospitality considered an asset . At least one year of experience in a cafe service-related position is required to apply. Skills and attributes needed for this role include: Friendly, outgoing, and approachable. Basic math and cash handling skills, with the ability to process payment through cash as well as using a POS system; able to reconcile till, and do opening and closing cash handling duties. Excellent verbal communication and customer service skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of individuals, including families, children, and international guests. Able to learn and carry out the Museums processes and practices in both the cafe and retail spaces. Able to multi-task and respond to guest orders effectively in a fast-paced and environment adhering to Food Safe practices and WHMIS. A dependable team player who takes initiative to work effectively to problem solve and brainstorm with various parties, including colleagues and leadership within guest services as well as other departments. About the Role: Our Museum Cafe Associates are the point of contact for guests who visit The Chatterbox Cafe at the Britannia Mine Museum.This role supports our guests to have an optimal cafe experience and is integral to maintaining the high quality of guest service at the Museum. Responsibilities include: Serving guests in the Chatterbox Cafe; taking orders, processing payments. Food and beverage preparation as per the Museums standards (following all applicable safe food handling procedures and regulations). Cleaning and bussing duties. Performing opening and/or closing duties. Responding to guest inquiries. Preparing for the following days activities including daily cleaning or organizing. Acting as an ambassador for the Museum to our on site guests, providing a world class welcome! Abiding by the Museums Code of Conduct and the Museums Health & Safety Program. Secondary responsibilities in retail/ The Company Store (for lunch and occasional coverage) which include: Assisting guests with their full museum retail experience; seeking out merchandise or services sought, make recommendations for purchases & processing purchases. Showcasing the variety of merchandise available for sale. Restocking, pricing, merchandising and cleaning the retail area. Qualifications: Customer service, food service, caf and/or cash handling experience are an asset, however we are willing to train the right person. Willing to take Food Safe Level 1 (required).
