The paper was founded in 1873 and has been continually published ever since. The Journal publishes a biweekly print edition and regular online content throughout the year. Core Competencies - Communication - Organization - Ownership - Attention to Detail - Cultural Competency - Creativity Job Duties - With a coeditor, publish two to three stories weekly (one for Tuesday publication, two for Friday publication) - Attract contributors from all corners on campus interested in business and science journalism - Develop relationships with campus clubs and organizations - Offer the section as a platform for clubs to announce any developments and allow their members to use The Journal as a means of developing their reporting skills - Work to improve The Journals relationship with faculty and graduate students to attract these individuals to the section - Produce wideranging content derived from traditional reporting to supporting contributors and writers in creating commentary and dialoguebased columns - Learn and develop writing skills, particularly adhering to Journal style - Develop a contributor base from the student body - Attend all inprint press days to lay out stories in the paper (occurs every other Thursday) - For both inprint and onlineonly press day, upload stories to The Journals website (occurs every Monday and Thursday for the first six weeks of each semester and every Thursday for the last six weeks of the semester) - Work with the Production Manager and visuals team to develop visual content for each story - Work closely with the Editor(s) in Chief to develop the vision and direction of the section - Attend all Editorial Board and sectionhead meetings, as well as all trainings provided to staff - Respect and adhere to all company policies, procedures and ethical standards - Maintain timely communication with your direct supervisor - Complete all assigned tasks efficiently and attentively - Strive to foster a warm, comfortable and respectful atmosphere for all - Always serve as a representative of the AMS and its mission statement - Complete other job duties as assigned Job Requirements - Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization and execution skills - Ability to thrive in a fastpaced environment Working Conditions Interaction and collaboration with coworkers, management and the Queens community The AMS is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of age, race, religion, colour, disability, sex, sexual orientation, or national origin. #J-18808-Ljbffr
