The Fairways and Greens are excellent for all skill levels; with the tee blocks positioned to suit both the novice and scratch handicapper. The front nine plays very similar to a links style course of Scotland and one can easily compare the amazing Rice Lake vistas with those stunning views from along the Bonnie Banks of Loch Lomond. The back nine is more forgiving with a fabulous elevated 10th hole and the 11th and 12th playing along the lake side resort. Our work environment includes: - Lively atmosphere - Company perks - Wellness programs The Golf Superintendent role The Golf Superintendent is responsible for developing a dedicated team to assist in providing our customers with an excellent quality golf course. Reporting to the General Manager, the Superintendent will be a proven leader in the industry and will have a successful track record in the areas of turf grass management and all aspects of the golf course property and surrounding areas, financial management and human resource management. Whats in it for you? - Competitive Salary and Bonus - Comprehensive Benefits program including dental, vision, extended medical, accidental death and disability and critical illness insurance - On-going Training and Support - Generous vacation time Skills - Knowledge and experience of golf course operation - Extensive knowledge of equipment, materials, and supplies used in golf course grounds maintenance - Advanced knowledge of agronomy and turf grass management - Possess expert knowledge of golf course watering principles and practices - Possess excellent management skills including communication, financial management and people management - A thorough understanding of the game of golf - Knowledge of Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) and Operational Health and Safety (OHS) practices - Ability to carry out and communicate to others detailed, written or verbal instructions, as well as to retrieve information from technical courses Certifications and Associations - First Aid and (CPR) certification - A minimum of 3 years on-course experience in all facets of turf management and a degree or diploma in turf grass management - Pesticide Applicator certification - Valid drivers license - Member of Golf Course Superintendent Association of Canada Responsibilities - Promote player satisfaction through quality maintenance and communications - Establishing, promoting and enforcing safety practices in accordance with local, provincial and federal regulations and ensuring personal protective equipment is worn as prescribed and required - Plan and coordinate all maintenance and project work on the golf course to ensure a high standard - Prepare and maintain annual budget for the maintenance and capital improvement of the golf course - Participate in weekly, monthly and long-term planning meetings, and meet with General Manager, Property Manager and Golf Professional weekly - Perform all functions within the departmental operating budget - Ensure performance of all functions and routine golf course maintenance activities and have a strong understanding and continue to expand in turf grass culture, course conditioning, course construction and reconstruction, and up to date rules of golf, the proper use of fertilizers and pesticides as well as staying up to date on new golf course equipment, including irrigation equipment - Ability to visually inspect golf course conditions and report findings - Orientates crewmembers to obtain a thorough understanding of their job classification, objectives and duties and works with key staff members to constantly improve the golf course, club grounds, maintenance facility and compound, plus all safety programs - This job description does not state or imply that the above duties and responsibilities are the only duties associated with this position.
