About the Position The Water/Wastewater Technical Servicers Officer provides technical leadership and operational oversight for potable water, wastewater, pool, and associated facility assets, including the supervision and direction of EG02 Water Technician and EG03 Asset Support Technician supporting the operation of Miette Hot Springs and related infrastructure within Jasper National Park. This position plans, prioritizes, assigns, and reviews work related to water treatment, wastewater systems, pool operations, mechanical and building systems, ensuring compliance with Parks Canada guidelines, Alberta Environment & Protected Areas regulations, public health requirements, and applicable codes and standards. The EG04 conducts advanced troubleshooting, approves operational adjustments, validates water quality data, and provides technical decisionmaking during abnormal, emergency, or afterhours situations. Responsibilities include coordinating and overseeing contractors and skilled trades, developing scopes of work, estimates, and schedules, managing preventive maintenance programs, and verifying the quality, safety, and completeness of work performed. The incumbent ensures accurate operational records, inspections, and reporting are maintained, mentors and trains staff, enforces workplace health and safety practices, and supports asset lifecycle planning, recapitalization, and continuous improvement initiatives. The role requires independent judgment, strong leadership, and accountability for the reliable operation of all the waste and potable water assets in Jasper National Park. Qualifications Education A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training, and experience. Occupational Certification Water Treatment Certification Level 1 through Alberta Environment and Protected Areas; Valid Alberta Class 5 licence or equivalent. Experience - Experience with inspection, reporting, and due diligence checks for facilities, equipment and systems both in potable water and wastewater. - Experience in selfdirected work/decision making in a team environment. - Experience using Microsoft Office/Excel spreadsheets to manage budgets and inventory. - Experience implementing safety programs/equipment and record keeping. - Experience in the supervision of staff and setting of work/inspection schedules. Knowledge - Current methods and practices related to water/wastewater systems and utilities services. - Current methods and practices of preventative maintenance and code compliance. - Current codes, statutes and regulations related to testing potable water and wastewater. - Safety regulations with water and wastewater systems.
