Overview The Galiano Health Care Center is looking for a locum Family Physician for a complex Rural community. The locum will work in the clinic with support of the MOAs, with 20 minute appointments per patient, and may serve as the Emergency walk-in physician if necessary. The first morning will be blocked off for orientation with the MOAs, including a tour, narcotic count and general information about the clinic. The last afternoon will include administration time. Evening/overnight on-call is required on designated dates. Responsibilities - Provide family medicine care in a clinic setting with 20-minute patient appointments. - Serve as Emergency walk-in physician when needed. - Attend orientation with MOAs on the first morning; participate in clinic tours and administrative briefings. - Manage administrative time during the final afternoon of the rotation. - Provide evening/overnight on-call on designated dates. Clinic Description - One 0.5 FTE Physician - 1 - 4 day/week Home & Community Care Nurse - 2 exam rooms, 1 Emergency Room, 2 offices, and 2 MOAs Local Resources - A phlebotomist available on Thursday for 4 hours - 1 Mental Health & Addictions counselor (employed by VIHA) up to 2 days/week serving Galiano and Salt Spring - 2 RMTs and one physiotherapist rent rooms casually - A dentist visits once a week Emergency Framework Ambulance, volunteer First Responders. Emergency Treatment Room. Patients requiring urgent transfer are taken by water taxi or helicopter. Call Expectations Rotating on-call via MOCAP Program. One weeknight overnight on call 1700-0800; date to be announced. Locums must use their own cell phones. No pager. Start Date & Remuneration Start Date: November 2024 May be eligible for additional remuneration in accordance with the Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA) including: - Fee Premium: 10.99% The above amounts are current as of August 2024 and may be subject to change.
