Job Summary The Manager, Horse Ownership Development, supports the development and execution of strategies that grow and strengthen horse ownership participation across Ontarios horse racing industry. Working closely with the departmental VP and Woodbines racing teams, this role contributes to identifying and advancing opportunities that enhance both the business of ownership and the overall owner experience. Collaborating across Woodbine and with key industry stakeholders, the Manager helps develop and implement initiatives that attract new owners, engage and retain existing owners, and elevate the ownership experience through improved amenities, tailored communications, and high-quality service delivery. The role will also assist in advancing syndicate and fractional ownership models, support education and onboarding programs for new owners, and coordinate partnerships that encourage longterm engagement with the sport. This position plays an important role in supporting Woodbines mandate to strengthen Ontarios horse racing industry by contributing to the cultivation of a vibrant and welcoming ownership community. Key Accountabilities Assist in developing and executing strategies that expand horse ownership across breeds and ownership models. Work with the departmental VP and racing teams to support recruitment and retention efforts that contribute to longterm industry sustainability. Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to help design and deliver a differentiated, premium Owner Experience including amenities, recognition initiatives, and engagement programs that strengthen loyalty, advocacy, and overall satisfaction. Support efforts to grow syndicate and fractional ownership through partnership development, coordination with ownership collectives, and the exploration of new models that make ownership more accessible and appealing. Work with breeders, trainers, associations, and other industry stakeholders to support outreach, education, and onboarding initiatives for new owners. Contribute to building a robust pipeline of future owners through coordinated engagement and collaboration. Qualifications Postsecondary degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or a related field. Additional education (e.g., MBA, certificate programs) considered an asset. Strong knowledge of the horse racing industry including ownership structures, syndicates, and general racing operations. Experience supporting stakeholder engagement and partnership development in a complex, multistakeholder environment. Understanding of customer experience principles, brand engagement practices, and loyalty or membership program concepts. Practical experience within the horse racing industry such as participation as an owner, breeder, trainer, syndicate member/manager, or involvement with a racetrack or racing operation providing insight into the ownership lifecycle and owner needs. Demonstrated ability to build relationships and contribute to community engagement within the horse racing, sport, or entertainment sectors. Experience supporting or coordinating programs, initiatives, or business activities that involved strategic planning elements, partnership collaboration, and enhancing customer or stakeholder experiences. Handson experience working with membershipbased, clientfacing, or loyaltystyle programs that foster connection, advocacy, and retention. This role requires sound judgment, creativity, and practical industry insight to support the development and execution of initiatives that advance horse ownership growth and engagement. Work Environment Expected to attend race days, owner events, industry meetings, and other functions that may take place during evenings, weekends, or holidays. The position requires periodic travel between Woodbine Racetrack, Woodbine Mohawk Park, and other racetrack or stakeholder locations across Ontario, with occasional travel to conferences or industry events in other jurisdictions as needed.
