Lunenburg Operations 100 Battery Point Road PO Box 910 Lunenburg, NS B0J2C0, CAN Responsible for managing engineering projects from concept through scope definition, design, costing, planning, installation, start-up and follow up assessment. Works with site leadership teams to identify, prioritize and lead projects or activities; identify stakeholders and resources; reprioritize as necessary to address changes in business. Works with plant management, corporate resources, and third-party vendors and contractors to deliver cost effective solutions that work. Acts as the sites primary engineering resource with a focus on productivity, safety, as well as corporate programs for equipment standards and programs. Essential Duties and responsibilities - Works independently on multidisciplinary design of food processing and manufacturing systems and processes that yield verifiable cost, efficiency and/or capacity improvements. - Manages multiple capital projects ensuring budget, schedule, quality and performance expectations are met. - Proactively identifies problems and provides effective solutions. - Define scope, roles and responsibilities. Facilitate the development of the solution. - Generate preliminary cost estimates. - Develop project submittals and manage ongoing costs - Solicit, review, recommend, and obtain approval on bids for work and equipment required - Oversees contractors and employees assigned to projects - Supervise construction, purchase and installation of equipment, and initial start-up. - Maintain detailed records for each project such as action plans, timelines, roles and responsibilities, cost tracking, and status against plan. - Review project records periodically to assess problems encountered, progress made, solutions identified, and opportunities to share learning and expertise among operations throughout the organization. - Actively and continuously work with corporate and plant management to identify, evaluate, and assess opportunities for improving production efficiency and quality from an engineering perspective. - Provide technical engineering and project management support to other divisions of the company as requested. - Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications - 5-10 years of experience working in a plant/ project engineering role preferably within the food or similar industry including some corporate exposure or tenure. - Experienced in best practices for sanitary design of equipment and systems. - Understanding of electrical power distribution, industrial controls and plant mechanical systems including: boilers, compressors, piping and ventilation. - ACAD, MS Office, Project and other Windows based applications. - BS in Engineering required or equivalent work experience. - Experience working in a food manufacturing plant highly preferred. - Working knowledge of, and handson experience within various engineering disciplines. - Ability to effectively communicate with and listen to subordinates, peers, and managers, as well as, internal and external customers. - Build and maintain great working relationships with all regulatory bodies, outside suppliers and contractors. - Ability to work both independently and as a team player. - Excellent oral and written communications skills.
