Job Title: Clinical Nurse Lead Location: BC Immigration Holding Centre (Onsite, 5 days/week) Schedule: Flexible hours + rotating on-call Reports To: Manager, Clinical Practice PAY - $90,000 /yr Position Summary The Clinical Nurse Lead provides onsite clinical leadership and operational support within the BC Immigration Holding Centre. This role ensures high-quality, client-centered care through coordination of nursing activities, direct clinical practice, and collaboration with internal and external partners. The Clinical Nurse Lead supports a multidisciplinary team and may be required to work on the floor as an RN when staffing gaps arise. This position plays a key role in maintaining clinical standards, promoting safety, and facilitating communication between healthcare staff, center operations, and community resources. Key Responsibilities Clinical Leadership & Coordination - Provide day-to-day leadership and guidance to the nursing team, supporting clinical decisionmaking, workflow management, and adherence to best practices. - Oversee nursing assignments, monitor staffing levels, and step into direct RN duties when required to maintain continuity of care. - Support new staff orientation, ongoing training, and performance development in collaboration with the Manager of Clinical Practice. Client Care & Direct Practice - Deliver safe, competent nursing care in accordance with BCCNM standards and organizational policies. - Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for clients with diverse medical, psychological, and social needs. - Participate in emergency response, chronic disease management, mental health support, and health education initiatives. - Work closely with the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), contracted guards, and internal operational staff to support a safe, secure, and respectful care environment. - Liaise with external healthcare providers, including hospitals, specialists, community clinics, and diagnostic services, to coordinate client care and followup. - Collaborate with onsite nurses, physicians, psychologists, psychiatrists, and other interdisciplinary team members to support comprehensive service delivery. - Communicate clinical concerns, risks, and incident followup to the Manager of Clinical Practice as required. Clinical Oversight & Quality Assurance - Support the development and implementation of clinical policies, procedures, and quality improvement initiatives. - Ensure documentation meets regulatory and organizational standards. - Participate in case reviews, health and safety meetings, and collaborative care planning. On-Call Rotation - Participate in a rotating oncall schedule to provide afterhours clinical guidance and support to staff. Qualifications Required: - Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM). - Minimum 3 years of RN experience in Canada. - Strong assessment, critical thinking, and clinical judgment skills. - Experience working with vulnerable, diverse, or marginalized populations. - Excellent communication, collaboration, and problemsolving abilities. - Ability to work onsite 5 days per week, with flexible scheduling and participation in an oncall rotation. Asset: - Minimum 1 year of leadership experience (e.g., charge nurse, team lead, supervisor, or similar role). - Experience in corrections, immigration holding settings, emergency, mental health, or community health settings.
